Solfege is in the need of a foster home. All foster equipment and medical is covered by ARWOB during foster care.
Update: Solfege enjoys hanging with some of her canine friends, including Phil, Tigre, and Itzzy.
Original Rescue Story:
Solfege was rescued from the streets of Ensenada Mexico, along with her 7 puppies (Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, and Ti). She was very malnourished and looked older than she really is, but now that all but one of her pups have been adopted, she has gained weight and is looking pretty healthy. She is now ready to find a forever home of her own!
Solfege does well in her crate, is leash trained, and enjoys car rides. She is fantastic with people, but she is also a “watch dog,” which means that if you are in the car and people approach your car, she may mumble some low growls or bark to warn you. However, she will become quiet as soon as you ask her to. She sleeps in her crate at night and has not had any accidents inside the house, but she has not been left in the home unsupervised yet. She can be mellow, but also likes to walk around and keep herself busy. When she jumps if she is ever really excited, she can jump from floor to hip level, so she can jump on and off chairs just fine for a small girl.
Solfege may not be a great “home alone” dog, as most small breeds may vocalize if left alone. She wants to be with people, hence she is placed in her crate every night so as not to let her bond too strongly, or she may become a “velcro doggy,” like many small breeds. If you trick her when going in and out of the home, she can stay home alone in her crate without a peep.
She is good with dogs, but she can certainly be selective with who she gets along with. She seems to want to be the “alph girl,” so a potential adopter who has another alpha female would probably not be a good match. A more submissive or playful, easy going dog be great as a doggy friend for Solfege (male or female). She does okay with cats, but will bark at them if she is allowed to do so. We recommend teaching her not to bark when she meets a feline friend.
This cutie is full of love and can be a total “couch cuddle bug” or an excellent exercise partner, as she has a good amount of energy. If you are interested in fostering and/or adopting this sweet girl, please fill out an online application at www.arwob.org. Don’t wait!
