update 11/7/20
Sol is approx 5mo and 16lbs which means he is going to be much smaller than we thought
he is a mini shepherd! Probably going to grow to be 30ish pounds
he is a gentle soul. Active and happy especially with dogs. He loves the people he knows but scared/shy when meeting new people but with more practice/exposure to people he will get better with his timid side. He loves to lick your hands and face, he has one negative thing which is approach. He plays "catch me if you can" which means to pet or places leash he tends to run around you unless you have a treat as he is very food oriented, he is really excited to be touched and petted but stays within arm reach with his foster, he really thinks it's funny and a game so we need adopter who is patient but also work immediately on cutting that out so he knows it's not a game when called to settle down when closer to you. He is great with cats, dogs and Very likely kids once he knows them meaning probably not little toddlers with fast moves With scary sounds. he is great in the crate and shows no separation anxiety.
UPDATE 10/6/20: Here is what Sol's foster mom Suzzanne has to say about him:
ORIGINAL RESCUE STORY:
Meet the Solfege family!
This adorable family of 8 was rescued from the streets of Ensenada, Baja in August. Solfege is an adorable mama dog who is approximately 3-5yrs old. She is mostly black with some white markings and looks very much like a miniature pin/toy terrier/chi mix, who is full grown at 12-15 pounds. She has 7 pups:
4 girls (Do, Re, Mi, Fa) and 3 boys (Sol, La, Ti). They are terrier/shep/lab mixes and range between 12-16 pounds, with the boys tending to be the largest.
Do is the smallest and is mostly a wired hair terrier and we think she could be 20-30 pounds full grown.
Re has a wired hair terrier/shep look and will likely be in the 25-40 pound range.
Mi looks like a wired hair terrier in the face. But she has a mostly smooth, short coat and her body mostly resembles a lab/terrier.
Fa has a smooth coat with black/tan coloring, which looks a lot more like shep/dobbie colors. She is the largest of the four girls. She will likely grow to be 30-50 pounds.
Sol has a smooth coat with black/tan coloring like a shep and is the shiest of the group. He will likely grow to be in the 35-50 pound range.
La has a smooth coat with black/white coloring and a mostly lab/shep look. He will likely be in the 40-50 pound range.
Ti has a smooth yellow coat like a lab and is the smallest of the boys. He will likely be in the 30-50 pound range.
The family is healthy and ready for adoption. However, because of COVID, sterilization appointments are not easy to arrange. Therefore, the Solfege family of dogs can only be adopted to local families living in the San Diego area. This will ensure they are able to take their adopted dog to the vet on surgery day.
Please do not submit an application if you are NOT local to the San Diego area. You will need to be able to attend the appointments shown below. If you would like to adopt and live out of the San Diego area, you are welcome to wait until the family has completed their surgeries and to check back to see if the dog you are interested in is still available.
Surgery schedule for the family: Note: These surgeries are scheduled in the 92109 zip code.
Solfege and Ti - Friday 10/2
Sol and La - Wednesday 10/7
Do, Re, Mi, Fa - Friday 10/9
The pups are ready for their “meet and greets” as soon as 09/28, which are typically the day they will be ready for adoption, and these meetings will be scheduled in the 92117 zip code.
The pups are all very social and playful. Like all young puppies, they are NOT house trained and are working on learning crate training. Adopters should have time for puppy training, house training, and socialization. To meet and possibly adopt one of these cuties, please submit an adoption application online at www.arwob.org Please not we are NOT currently taking foster applications for them. Thank you.
Don't wait...Submit an adoption application today!
