An lovely update from our Facebook page:
"This is the one and only Smokey Pete, adopted from ARWOB in June, 2010. I consider the moment Alondra stepped off the elevator of my building with him to be the most important moment of my life. Smokey is the kindest, gentlest soul I’ve ever encountered. Thank you ARWOB for rescuing him."
An beautiful update from our Facebook page:
"In late April of this year, we adopted Lili (Snowflake) from you, and we couldn't be happier to have her in our lives! She is such a loving, sweet, happy little soul, and she makes us laugh every day. She loves playing with her best buddy Lupin, chewing on ice cubes and bones, and trips to the beach. We are eternally grateful for the amazing work you do! Thank you again for all the joy you've brought us through Lili."
We rescued "Smidge" from Tecate, Mexico in November 2016. She came to us terrified of people, shy and with zero confidence. She felt secure around dogs, but would keep her distance from people and learning to accept a collar and leash was a challenge in its own. She slowly was able to accept being around people and learned the leash among other things, but of course she didn’t show well and potential adopters kept passing her by. We knew she needed a very special family who would accept her for who she is and allow her to flourish at her pace. Finally, her person found her in May of 2017.
It’s been a year since her adoption and we received this amazing update. We couldn’t be happier to hear how well she is doing and how much she is loved!!
"Smidge is doing really well. She wags her tail, runs around like a crazy dog, loves her walks, and comes up to us to get petted. She’s quite insistent! She even vocalizes—it sounds like she’s trying to talk to us, which is really funny, but also something our other dog Emory does. Smidge pretty much imitates Emory and really relies on her. She’s still very tentative with strangers and likes having time and space to herself (we refer to my spare bedroom as Smidge’s Room), but she is truly part of the family and it’s been amazing to see how much she’s grown and wants to be with us. We love her!”
Check out these wonderful photos from Shimmy’s new family! Here is what they have to say about her:
“She’s adjusting well to her big sisters; they are already playing together a bit and sharing space. There’s still a bit of hissing when she wants to play and the big kitties don’t, but her boundless energy doesn’t let them stay grumpy for long. Her favorite time of day is 4:30 am when she takes a 100 mph run around the house and attempts to kill the bathroom rug. She is super sweet and purrs all the time. She loves a good snuggle in between play time. We couldn’t be happier!”
Sandy and her big sister Cozy enjoying the sunny windowsill! We just love our two rescue girls.
