Meet the Chapala Family! Sully, his mother Zoe, along with 11 of his siblings were rescued by a local rescue group in Chapala Mexico back in April. Unfortunately, they were only able to find homes for 2 of Zoe’s puppies, so they reached out to ARWOB for help. Part of the family was flown to Tijuana and 6 of the puppies have already been picked up and transported to San Diego where they are now residing with foster families. Zoe the momma dog and her other 4 puppies will arrive in San Diego in early September.
Zoe is a Labrador Retriever mix and is an amazing mother with a sweet personality. Her babies are all very social and outgoing too! We anticipate that the puppies will grow to be somewhere between 40-60 pounds, since Zoe is 45 pounds and full grown. However, we do not know who the father dog is and were told he may have been a Golden Retriever. Most of the puppies look to be a Labrador Retriever mix like their mother with short coats. Some of the puppies are black and a few are chocolate colored. Two of the puppies have longer coats and have the look of a Newfoundland, but it is really hard to say. Zoe and all of her puppies are great with people, children, and other dogs. They are likely good with cats too, but they have not been tested with cats just yet.
Here is what Sully’s foster family has already said about him and his sister Nala: “We named the boy Sully because he is a big, hairy, lovable goofball (Sully is the big "monster" on Monsters Inc. with a big heart). We named the girl Nala, because she is so adventurous, brave, strong and beautiful (like the lioness on Lion King). They have been a delight to have. Yes, some slight puppy destruction, but to be expected. They use the doggy door to go potty! They have only had a couple accidents inside, yay! They understand the word no, and listen to it. We can't get over how smart, adventurous and laid back these puppies are. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to foster them. They will make a great addition to someone's family!!”
We encourage potential fosters and/or adopters to complete an online application right away, even for the dogs that have not arrived in San Diego just yet. This way we can begin to find foster families and/or permanent loving homes for these lovely dogs. Won’t you consider opening your heart and your home to one or more of these adorable canines? If you are interested in fostering and/or adopting, please fill out an online application right away. Don’t wait!
