Meet Zodiac, Zoe, Zulu, and Zuni!
UPDATE 11-2-21:
Zulu doesn’t think she is a “special needs” pup and neither do we! But she only has one eye, so we will let you decide. Zulu is beautiful inside and out! She is currently 24 pounds and will likely reach 60-80 pounds when full grown. This adorable large breed puppy is perfect with dogs, cats, and children. She is crate trained, enjoys car rides, and LOVES water. She had an injured eye, which was just surgically removed on November 1st, as she had no vision in that eye. That particular eye was bulging and we made the decision to have it surgically removed to avoid any future medical complications. We could have left the eye intact for aesthetics, but again, we felt it made sense to avoid any future complication and we opted to have it enucleated. We are hoping an adopter will overlook this tiny imperfection! Right now it looks a little dramatic because of the recent surgery and ordinary swelling/shaved fur in the area. But by the time Zulu is full grown and once the skin is healed, you won’t even notice that she is slightly different unless you see her directly up close. Zulu can do ANYTHING that a 2-eyed puppy can do, but society states that we have to list her as “special needs.” We hope an adopter will agree with us that the only “special needs” she has is that she needs a special loving adopter to offer her a great life!
UPDATE 10-21-21 : Here is what Zulu's foster mom has to say:
"Zulu is such a sweet, loving girl that loves to cuddle and play with her siblings. Her favorite toy to play with is a tug-of-war rope. Zulus coat is so soft and fluffy. She is a beautiful girl that is possibly blind in one eye. We are waiting for her vet appt with the dr to determine exactly what is going on with her right eye. This does not get in her way of exploring and having puppy shenanigans! Zulu is great with small children as well. Zulu would be such a great family member for any loving family."
ORIGINAL RESCUE STORY :
These four adorable siblings were rescued from the streets of Ensenada, Mexico in late August. These pups are currently fostered in San Diego and are now ready for adoption. Of course they engage in typical puppy antics. They are active, mischievous, and super loving/outgoing.
These pups are great with dogs, cats, and children. They are learning to be crate trained and will need an adopter who has time to devote to puppy house training, potty training, and obedience training. They will likely grow to be in the 60-80 pound range as medium sized dogs.
If you would like to adopt one of these cuties, please fill out an online adoption application at www.arwob.org. Don’t wait!
