Meet Hansel and Gretel!
UPDATE 2-6-21 : Here is what Gretel's foster mom has to say about her:
"Gretel is such a sweet, beautiful puppy. She enjoys her family time and focused attention with us, but also can play alone and entertain herself. She will sometimes alert if she hears a stranger by our home, which is sweet and loyal, she is rarely vocal otherwise. She is crate trained with no accidents throughout the night. She is building up her confidence and self-esteem, knowing she is now in a safe and loving place. Once she is held in our arms, she doesn’t want to leave. She falls asleep in our arms and enjoys her cuddle time. She enjoys children and has done well with our 3 children ages 3, 5, and 7, as well as our cat. She is also completely house trained now."
ORIGINAL RESCUE STORY :
These adorable siblings were found running along a road in the streets of Ensenada, along with Yippee (another puppy that is also under ARWOB’s care). A local rescuer stopped to help them and realized these two were siblings and the one singleton had been staying with them for companionship. The rescuer took all three of the puppies home and quickly started the care they needed, including a medicated bath to help with their badly infected skin and to treat them for fleas and ticks. These poor kiddos were starving and she immediately gave them the food they needed, allowing them to become healthy again.
These adorable siblings will likely grow to be in the 55 pound range. Like all puppies, they have an outgoing/bubbly personality and they are great with other dogs, cats, and children. Their ideal adopter will have a home with another dog or a yard so they will have space to play. We are also looking for an active adopter for these kiddos, who can take them on walks/hikes. Just like with all young puppies, they will need structure and guidance so that they do not develop bad manners (i.e. barking, whining, etc.). They will need proper puppy training, especially since they are very young and still are not house trained. Therefore, we are looking for an adopter who will take their puppy training seriously and is willing to socialize them, so they become a well behaved family member.
Because of COVID-19, sterilization appointments have been difficult to schedule. Hansel and Gretel will both be sterilized in the 92104 North Park area of San Diego on Thursday, March 4, 2021.
This means that they can only be adopted to local families in the San Diego area to ensure they are able to take them to the pre-scheduled surgery appointment, and then pick them up at the end of the day after surgery. Therefore, please do NOT submit an application if you are not local to San Diego and able to attend the appointments shown above. If you would like to adopt and live outside of San Diego area, you are welcome to wait until their sterilization surgery has been completed to see if they is still available (please note that we do not place holds on any of our rescues).
If you would like to adopt one of these cuties, please submit an application online at arwob.org
