Meet Yippee (fka Yapi)!
UPDATE 2-6-21 : Here is what Yippee's foster mom has to say about her:
"Yippee is 6 pounds now at 3 month old, but we can’t figure out if she is a small breed or medium breed. She’s either a Chi 'wannabe' or a 'Shepherd wannabe'. We don’t know what she will grow to be, but she was rescued on 12/20/20 at 6 weeks old and 2 pounds and she is now 3 months old and 6 pounds. So we think she will grow to be 15-30 pounds, but she could perhaps get bigger.
Yippee is a typical puppy, very sweet and inquisitive, full of energy but able to settle down. She is respectful of the older dogs even when they won’t play with her. She’s a bit mouthy but never bites hard. She is following my dogs’ lead and going to the bathroom outside, which is wonderful. Crate trained, good eater and food motivated. She seems smart and will be easy to train. She’s vocal when she’s not getting what she wants, but we’re working on that! "
ORIGINAL RESCUE STORY :
Yippee was found roaming the streets of Ensenada, along with two shepherd pups named Hansel and Gretel (who are also now in ARWOB’s care). We originally thought she was part of the same litter as the other two, but she is much smaller and we think she is also different in age. We have no idea how they encountered each other, but this adorable trio is now safe and are ready to find a forever family of their own.
This little nugget will likely grow to be in the 10-15 pound range when full grown. Like all small breeds, Yippee has an outgoing, bubbly personality and she is very loving. She is great with other dogs, cats, and children. Just like with all young dogs, she will need structure and guidance so that she does not develop bad manners (i.e. barking, whining, etc.). She will need proper puppy training, especially since she is very young. Therefore, we are looking for an adopter who is willing to socialize Yippee and train her to be a well behaved family member. If her potential adopter actually has the time to train her versus just having a lap companion to cuddle with, then Yippee is your gal! She can cuddle of course, but only if her adopters are willing to set rules/boundaries for her and take her puppy training seriously. She is learning to be crate trained and will need to be house trained.
Because of COVID-19, sterilization appointments have been difficult to schedule. Yippee will be sterilized in the 92104 North Park area of San Diego on Thursday, March 4, 2021.
This means that she can only be adopted to local families in the San Diego area to ensure they are able to take her to the pre-scheduled surgery appointment, and then pick her up at the end of the day after surgery. Therefore, please do NOT submit an application if you are not local to San Diego and able to attend the appointments shown above. If you would like to adopt and live outside of San Diego area, you are welcome to wait until her sterilization surgery has been completed to see if she is still available (please note that we do not place holds on any of our rescues).
If you would like to adopt this cutie, please submit an application online at arwob.org
