Meet Isis,
A pure breed Border Collie, full grown at 33-35 pounds and about 2 1/2 years old. Isis and Moose 2 siblings were owned by a couple who moved to Guadalajara, Mexico a year ago. Unfortunately the couple relinquished both Moose and Isis to a friend of theirs who own 2 larger dogs (Old English Sheepdog and A large breed Shep Mix). Unfortunately, Moose was given to our rescue group back in September because the dynamics of the household with 4 dogs was too much and the 2 dogs didn't accept Moose. Moose came to San Diego and found a fantastic home in October.
Isis stayed in the home but now she is also in need of a home, the family dogs just didn't want anything to do with Isis, so she too was sent to San Diego late March.
Isis is in a foster home which has several cats and several dogs of all sizes and ages. We are URGENTLY looking for a foster home who can offer Isis the environment she needs and currently as of 4/1/12 the foster home were she is IS NOT the appropriate home for her as she needs someone who will keep her busy and not so many distractions in the home.
Isis is NOT dog aggressive BUT she has displayed behavior on leash which would make one think otherwise. Probably because the dogs she is aroun are mostly small dogs who she believes she can herd around.
Isis is like all border collies VERY SMART, already has basic training and commands like sit, stay, shake, No, Go potty and she can walk off leash next to you no problem. She is crate trained and walks very well on the leash. She is an AMAZING guard dog! while NOT a barker. She is house broken and never had accidents nor destructive. Super sweet loving dog. NOT A DOG FOR FIRST TIME OWNERS as the breed needs someone with experience in order to continue with training.
We are IDEALLY looking for a foster or adoptive home with NO CATS and NO DOGS. Definitely NO CATS and probably OK with dogs depending on their breed, size and of course behavior.
Isis LOVES tennis balls, fetching is her number one game and the ideal home for her is a VERY ACTIVE lifestyle, someone who would like to enroll her in typical Collie agility training like Fly ball, etc. She is eager ed to learn and the breed being so smart needs constant Physical and Mental stimuli. Playing with toys in the yard will NOT be enough, she is a herding breed dog and one of the smartest breeds so they love to learn new things every day. Ideally a Ranch setting or home with large property.
Isis is healthy UTD on all medically and just an amazing loving dog who loves to be talked to and petted as she head budds you asking to be petted. She LOVES car rides and has been great around children, although she has never lived with children she has been exposed to them and we know she will be a great family member to a family who will make sure she is exercised all the time.
Isis lives in the 92111 Area Code and would love to find someone who will enjoy this amazing beautiful smart girl!
