Meet “ Doc”!!
UPDATE 10/20/23 from Doc's foster family:
"Doc is a gentle giant who loves being around both humans and dogs. Has shown no interest for our feral cat Pancho. Is potty-trained (has had no accidents inside our home), knows a few commands like sit, stay, and come. Is eager to learn and see new things this world has to offer, when not playing in the yard he loves to sit next to you while you enjoy your favorite shows. Currently working on his leash skills and more tricks.
He greets guests at his foster home bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, this boy never stops smiling."
ORIGINAL RESCUE STORY:
He is ONE cool handsome Dude, yes he is.
A little about Doc, he has an owner surrender from San Diego who was purchased as a puppy by the owners son who had Doc and two other dogs but the college student moved and left Doc with his family. The family accepted Doc but had him as a back yard dog because their family dog was not accepting Doc and that meant the poor sweetheart had to endure living in the yard alone with only a towel as his bed and he was given attention only to be fed. Poor guy he was SO excited when people would be in the yard because it meant some companionship. We received a request for help and where able to board him while we vetted him.
Doc is healthy and aside from waiting for him to be neutered Tuesday 10/24 all his blood works, vaccines, Etc are DONE. You can meet him at October adoption events through San Diego or email us to schedule a meet and greet any day of the week. You can adopt, foster or even start a foster to adopt trial to get to know him. As you can imagine Doc arrived extremely matted and full of burrs/fox tails hence his current funky haircut which is shaved on some areas and “off” on others lol but once his coat recovers it will be long and beautiful and adopters need to know he will require grooming every couple of months. Doc is 3yrs and already full grown at 65-70 pounds an extremely handsome shaggy boy with no known breed background but he resembles a Old English Sheepdog or bearded collie…… what do you think ?!
His temporary/ER foster mom has this to say:
Doc is a gentle giant who loves being around both humans and dogs. Has shown no interest for our feral cat Pancho. Is eager to learn and see new things this world has to offer, when not playing in the yard he loves to sit next to you while you enjoy your favorite shows. Currently working on his leash skills and more tricks. He’s doing great and has started to play more with toys. Sleeps thru the night without whining.
He greets guests at his foster home bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, this boy never stops smiling.
To adopt or foster Doc please submit an application online @ARWOB.org
Note- He can be adopted out of state if adopter is willing to travel to meet and make
