Foster parent update received 8/10/23:
We love having shorty he is such a goofball! He enjoys walks in downtown San Diego and going to the little Italy dog park which is close to us. Shorty is doing great and has been making lots of doggy friends here in the city! He loves going to the dog park and meeting and playing with the other pups. He plays well with other dogs and loves to fetch. Also is very well potty trained. He is still a little shy at first when meeting men (especially if they are wearing a hat) but he warms up quickly. Shorty also enjoys cuddling up to you on the couch and wants to be wherever you are. He is a love bug! My boyfriend and I have taken him on many outings to local venues like breweries, restaurants and everyone loves him!
The following is a quick bullet point on shorty:
- Excellent health (neutered, chiped, fully vaccinated, never had any medical issues)
- As of 8/15/23 he is 9 months and 29 pounds which means he will likely reach to be 35 pounds when full grown.
- Shy during initial meetings. Warms up quickly. Total love bug once he knows you.
- He is a "baja blend" super mutt. Primarily shepherd mix.
- Excellent with cats and dogs.
- Energy level medium. He would be an excellent only pet in the home or also bond and be good friends w pets in the home.
- He LOVES to play with toys and is excellent at fetch.
- Very smart and quick to learn would be excellent for anyone looking to do 'work' with their canine partner like agility, competition, etc
- Enjoys car rides and walks.
- Shorty has been in san diego since May and first lived at casa de ARWOB with many other arwob dogs and foster cats, he learned to be crated. Then he went to a foster family with mom/dad/2 young boys and multiple large adult dogs and foster pups with a home and pool which he loved and now he is fostered in a apartment setting with 2 working adults as the only dog going on multiple walks a day. He has had experience with all and is always loved! He will be a great companion for someone who is looking for a medium breed, medium energy and smart breed which means the adopter should be interested in being active and give structure with dog training for Shorty to be the best for life with a great basic foundation.
You can visit us online at ARWOB.org for more event calendar information or to apply for adoption.
