Meet Sashimi and Sushi!
UPDATE 12/14/21
Sushi and Sashimi are brothers and, as of 11/2021, Sushi has been adopted and now its Sashimi's turn! You can see Sashimi at our cat adoption center inside the PetSmart Clairemont as he is one of our current residents.
These brothers were initially very skittish and scared around people, but they both came around nicely and have been socialized around our fosters and volunteers. Here are some notes from our adoption center volunteers about Sashimi:
Sashimi's foster shared: æSashimi is the SWEETEST THING!!! He will come up to you and lay on you! He loves being petted and demands human affection! He often falls asleep on you as you are petting him. Sashimi LOVES to lay and cuddle with our small dog. They enjoy chasing each other and napping in each other's company! Much like his brother, he does not get overstimulated while getting petted. He is a very social cat who will bring his love and affection to your home!æ
Sashimi will do best in a home with another cat, especially if it's a social and outgoing cat. He is a very friendly kitty who seeks to be friends with all the cats so he would be a great companion for another kitty in the home looking to have a friend. He has been fostered in a home with a small breed dog before so we believe he would do well in a home with a dog as well. He has not lived in a home with children, but does well with them when they meet him in the adoption center. He will need to be adopted into a home with another cat or along with one of his friends. He is good friends with Figaro, Flounder, Bear, Roy and Rocky but any other kitten/cat would be friends with him as well.
Sashimi will be looking for a foster parent if he is not adopted during our last cat adoption event of the year 12/18 and 12/19 and of course attending the event both days. Sushi and Sashimi have moved to our cat adoption center at the PetSmart in Clairemont. Moving to a new environment with a number of other cats can be quite an adjustment and the first week had been for them. Time and the support of our volunteers should make a difference and it already has. Less than a week after arriving in the center, today's volunteers had this to share about them:
"Sushi and Sashimi are so sweet. Sashimi was super affectionate, loved pets, and also licked me all over.. lol. Despite being very affectionate, he hesitated to leave his kennel. Sushi, on the other hand, jumped out a couple of times, walked around the room, sniffed everywhere, and climbed on tge cat tree!" (great progress!). Several days later: the boys are coming out of their kennels without having to be encouraged and are interacting with the other cats and playing with the toys. Sashimi has decided that he likes sitting on laps and Sushi is still a bit hesitant and just needs lots of TLC to gain confidence taking the initiative to come up to his human friends. Our volunteers are happy with their progress!
