Meet Pasta and Rigatoni:
These babies were rescued in May 2021 when only a couple of weeks old and under 200 grams old! The kittens were well taken care of and found their forever homes, but Rigs and Pasta were over seen even though they have always been adorable, super outgoing and friendly with all and just easy-going muffin makers. These two siblings have never been separated and have been in several foster homes with all foster families saying amazing things about them.
These siblings are everything you can hope for.....sweet, affectionate, charming, playful, love people and each other, and a sure way to brighten your days!
Updated on 3/4/22:
Rigatoni (Rigs) was diagnosed with FIP (Feline infectious peritonitis) a disease in the past that has always been fatal until recent years in which a treatment has been found which has a high success rate. It is avery expensive oral treatment, done at home, which has a lengthy treatment of 6 months. 3 months of daily oral tablets and 3 months of just observation. For these reasons, in shelter/rescue situations, most kitties are euthanized. Since Rigatoni had been under our rescue care for his whole kittenhood we couldn't euthanize him as we had built a bond with him and knew he needed the chance to live. We decided to fundraise the funds to treat and make the long-term commitment to treat. Thankfully, Riggs never became sick, just had the bloated fluid filled abdomen plus a fever but all else was always normal with him. He was super easy to treat as he is the easiest going kitty who is very easy to trim nails and give pills to. He responded quickly to treatment having his abdomen go back to normal within a week and we knew he would be a fantastic candidate to continue treatment. He was diagnosed in the first week of November. He finished his oral treatment and as of 3/4/22, he is done with 1 of 3 months of observation since his meds were stopped and he doing fantastic! You can just imagine what wonderful news this is and how all you love him are celebrating this journey!
He and his sister, Pasta, who have been together since born and never separated are a fantastic pair to adopt together. Pasta never got sick (not all cats exposed to FIP contract it), but we wanted to keep her behind for 2 reasons: 1) To keep Rigatoni company for such a long-term treatment since he was NOT allowed to be around cats the first 3 months of treatment and he would have been miserable alone for so long 2) To make sure Panda herself didn't come down with the disease in the past 4 months and it is safe to say she is NOT coming down with it.
There were 7 kittens in that litter of kittens and all the other kittens were adopted in the summer of 2021 and all are doing well except one kitty sister, Kali, also came down with FIP end of October and her adopter was unable to cover the expense. Thankfully, we were at that time able to sponsor most of the treatment. The adopter of Kali had also fostered Kali and Fox (the brother) and adopted Fox, as well. Although Fox was exposed to Kali all of that time, he never came down with FIP either. Kali also survived and her observation period is over, which we are super happy about. With this FIP treatment, through the past 4 years we have been able to treat a couple of our Arwob rescues and all have had excellent results and recovered to have a wonderful life with no side effects or concerns from past experience on what adopters had provided as information and we are happy to say Rigatoni should also have no future medical issues related to this disease. He survived and we say this so potential adopters are not afraid to apply for Riggs to be their new family member.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO LIKE TO FOSTER OR ADOPT BOTH PASTA AND RIGATONI TOGETHER -
Ideally a foster to adopt situation so the adopter starts to get to know the kittens aka young adults now from march and April during their technical last 2 months of observation and finalize their adoption in may 2022 this way it protects the adopters in case some medical occurs related to this and we can help cover it and for peace of mind as in the past adopters have done this method which allows the kittos to be HOME NOW vs later and open room for our rescue to rescue other cats opening the foster parent that currently is caring for them especially during kitten season. Its up to adopters if they felt comfortable adopting the kittos now as well. But we are looking for a foster to adopt or adopter for them both.
If you would like to Foster to adopt (foster them with intend to adopt once you have known them for a month or two) or straight up ADOPT - please submit the ADOPTION application online and let us know on the comments you'd like to foster first.
only submit the foster application if you are only able to foster them for the month of march and april and can secure that long term foster for them so their current foster can help us with other kitties who don't need to be secluded from other cats for the next 2 months.....NOTE - these kitties can be around any other cat AFTER 5/2/2022 as their last 2 months of observation (March and April need to be away from other kitties)
If you would like to meet these sweethearts, submit the adoption application online at our home page ARWOB.org ASAP!
