Meet Girasol (aka GG)!
UPDATE 7-4-21: Here is what Girasol's current foster mom has to say about her:
"GG is a very sweet dog. She loves to get as much attention as she can which could be cuddles, rubs, chasing the ball, running around the house or whatever! She is fantastic with kids, dogs and cats. She does very well in the crate when she has her toys to keep her occupied. GG loves walks and does a great job walking right next to us. Her favorite game to play is fetch. She knows sit (most of the time) but she is a quick learner. She is a bit nervous around new people but warms up very quickly. GG is a little bit mouthy but once you tell her no she stops. She rarely barks if at all. She is a very cute dog and would do great in a home with another dog, cat and kids."
UPDATE 6-20-21: Here is what Girasol's foster family has to say:
“We know it’s rare, but Girasol (aka GG) is a needle in a haystack! She is an adorable, full grown 10lb Chiweenie and is NOT a barker or barky dog. She’s a very friendly, social, goofy, cuddly ‘tomboy’ pup, who would love a family with kids, dogs and cats, or if a single pup someone who likes to have fun. She is perfect for cuddling at home and enjoying time in while also game to go expore San Diego and mingle with both humans and canine friends. She doesn’t care if they are big or small dog friends.”
ORIGINAL RESCUE STORY:
This adorable pup is from Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico (about 1,400 miles south of the USA border!). We flew her in at the request of a friend who volunteers with a shelter in that area. We don't know her back story, but we do know she had a TERRIBLE case of demodectic and sarcoptic mange, along with several skin scars — we can tell she had gone through a LOT trying to survive! Now that we have gotten to know her, we can definitely say "GIRASOL IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST GIRL!!!" She is a total sweetheart.
This little “Chiweenie” has a very quiet, fun, and loving personality, but she is a total goof ball too. She is so happy to be around people, as well as other dogs, both big and small. She is NOT a vocal girl at all and we have not heard her vocalize. She would likely be happier with a family with other dogs or children, because she likes company. She does not suffer from separation anxiety at all and does great in her crate, but she just REALLY enjoys being around others!
Girasol is already full grown and we think she just reached a year old. Her only negative trait is that her fur/coat is still healing, so she doesn’t look great and with all the little scars, she may never have a totally normal “look.” She seems to like squeaky toys and being that she is still young, she looks for food on the floor all the time. She LOVES food and eats like she has never been fed before, which means she will also get into things on the floor and is still in a “puppy stage.” :-)
