These pups were rescued from Ensenada, in Baja California Mexico. Their mom was rescued from the streets by a good Samaritan, who ended up deciding to adopt her. The good Sam realized too late that the mom was pregnant and didn’t spay her in time. The mother dog had 10 puppies! However, 2 of the male pups were given away before ARWOB could pick up the entire crew and we were not able to intercept and get those 2 neutered before they were given away. However, we were able to safely take in the remaining 8 pups and placed them in quarantine with a reliable foster in Ensenada. The puppies will be coming to San Diego the weekend of December 5th!
We have included a photo of the mom, who looks like a mini husky/wolf and she is 40 pounds. We do not know who the dads are, but the primary breeds are likely shepherd and Labrador. Only 3 of the pups have the shepherd medium coat and the rest of the pups have short hair. At only 3 months of age and between 10-13 pounds, we believe they will grow to be in the 35-50 pound range. They will likely not be very big for a shepherd/lab mix dog.
Like all puppies, they are silly and active! They will need an adopter that is ready to do lots of house training and socialization with both people and other dogs, which can be hard during the pandemic.
Because of COVID-19, sterilization appointments have been difficult to schedule. The pups will all be sterilized in the 92104 North Park area of San Diego as follows:
Monday 12/14/2020
Champ Bear
Tenderheart Bear
Funshine Bear
Cheer Bear
Monday 2/8/2021
Daydream Bear
Harmony Bear
Surprise Bear
Wish Bear
This means the pups can only be adopted to local families in the San Diego area to ensure they are able to take their newly adopted puppy to the pre-scheduled surgery appointment, and then pick them up at the end of the day after surgery. Therefore, please do NOT submit an application if you are not local to San Diego and able to attend the appointments shown above. If you would like to adopt and live outside of San Diego area, you are welcome to wait until their sterilization surgeries have been completed to see if the rescue you are interested in is still available.
If you would like to adopt one of these cuties, please submit an application online at arwob.org
