To make the most out of your time, we suggest you SUBMIT an adoption APPLICATION BEFORE an adoption event.

Check the animal attendance the morning before the event to confirm attendance of a particular rescue. In addition, please check the up-to-date animals attendance list 1 HOUR BEFORE an event to know if the dog or cat you want to meet is still attending.

Also remember to review important event information BEFORE attending.

Nelson is a handsome 1.5yr old DSH MN white/brown tabby who came to ARWOB October 2017 when we exited a little 3 month old kitten from a local SD shelter where he entered 08/2017 with skin issues and underage so he could not be adopted and was under medical treatment. When ARWOB exited the kitten upon request from the shelter for ear issues and possible skin allergies, we realized the second day he had a problem with two of his legs. Our veterinarian determined he had 2 fractured legs with injuries which were in the process of healing. We dont know how this kitten was ignored with his injuries, likely because he had no external injuries. Nelson was seen by a surgical specialist who recommended no surgery and just crate rest as it was too late to fix the breaks.

Nelson has a wonky front leg that makes him look like a little Basset hound ha!

Nelson has NO physical restrictions and can jump and run like any cat. He MUST be an indoor only cat as he can't afford an accident nor has the ability to escape dangers.

Nelson is very loving but not immediately. He is outgoing with people but will not be loving until he knows them and is at home feeling comfortable. He loves to cuddle, but doesn't need attention all day. He is your typical fun, social, playful cat who loves to explore and be around people.

He does well with most cats, although some times he likes to bully one or if another cat bullies him, but with most its a normal kitty relationship. He would do great in any environment with or without cats and with or without dogs.

He loves to be petted anywhere around his head, BUT sometImes he doesn't like to be touched on his sides/back, which is likely a result from what he endured from physical trauma and,as a result, will try to get away if petted the wrong way, Because of this, children over 12yr are best to make sure they can understand how to properly pet him and when to let him be if he is feeling uncomfortable.
