Meet Tessa!
The following is a quick bullet point on this rescue, please read the complete biography to know ALL we know about this wonderful rescue dog while under our care:
- Excellent health. Recent dental/blood work 5/2023
- Excellent with ALL humans. Has lived around children.
- Safe around cats.
- Good with dogs. She lives with many. She is an Alpha personality (a mama dog personality) she can be selective on who is her BFF and who is not.
- NO leash reactivity has NO issues meeting dogs on leash.
- House and crate trained
- Energy level low to medium. (Excellent walker)
- Great for experienced or inexperienced dog owners
Update from Tessa's foster Mom (5-22-23):
- Tessa is back at Casa de ARWOB which means she lives with other ARWOB adoptable rescue dogs like Buttercup, Winnie, Salome, etc. She is also around cats but always supervised around the felines ei there is a human present. She is not barking, lunging or chasing kitties. She is indifferent to them. She used to tense up when they would approach her but now a couple of arwob kitties always come to greet her and she enjoys saying 'hi and bye' - she leaves kitties alone safely. Tessa is excellent at listening to people so if she tried anything as long as corrected, she would understand/stop.
- If you have kitties at home you can request a foster to adopt trial
- How is Tessa around Humans? she is PERFECT with men, women or children alike. She is loving and seeks attention but can also be independent and indifferent. For example, during walks she focuses on smelling the area, after all that's the purpose of going out and about BUT if she was at a restaurant or you were sitting in the Livingroom, she would be happy to be around humans greeting them.
- How is Miss T. around dogs? She is good! At casa de ARWOB she is around ALL kinds of fellow fosters from young small pups to crazy active no manners teens and other easy going adult dogs. She has only been fostered since her time with ARWOB in one foster home for a short stint of a month where she shared the home w 3 resident dogs. 1 large breed adult, 2 small breeds (1 senior/1 adult) no issues reported.
- However, Tessa is absolutely an alpha female and as such she will have the personality with the dogs which means its dog-to-dog personality dependent she will love some, ignore others and others she will keep her eye on and try to keep them in check. Currently her BFF are winnie, tito, moose, Nelly and occasionally she will play with Salome. The rest of the crew she is not bothered by them.
- Behavior wise - Tessa is house trained, never has destroyed anything nor have a potty accident. She is also crate trained. Has shown zero separation anxiety in or out of the crate and is just such a well-behaved dog hence a perfect for someone who is not ready for puppy stages.
- Tessa is a little overweight and as of 4/20 weighs 57 pounds she can really use a foster parent or adopter who will help her lose maybe 2-4 pounds like tossing the ball around or going for walks. She enjoys toys and tennis balls... UPDATE 5/21 - Tessa has lost weight playing and running around with winnie and friends so she is now 54 pounds
- As of 4/20 Tessa had a dental and has pearly white teeth now! Blood work is normal so no signs of worrying about adopting a young adult dog.
- Tessa is great in the car, she sits and stays in one location. She can jump in and out of the car without problem.
- She is not exactly a big puller but she can be strong.
- She is not a big barker but can be a good 'warning' she will bark at certain situations or things which is perfect.
- She likes to chill most of the day and enjoys outings, she is truly a great dog!
