Is Bonnie the BEST calico in the world?!
Probably not, since I don't know ALL the calicos in the world but We do know Bonnie and she is Purrtty amazing!
This adorable and sweet mama cat was rescued 5/10 from a high kill shelter in the Riverside/San Bernadino shelter where she and her litter of 6 were scheduled for euthanasia for lack of space in a saturated shelter dealing with so any litters of cats... the unfortunate truth of people not sterilizing their cats or helping sterilize the community cats. Thankfully. ARWOB was able to exit Bonnie and her little family and we couldn't have been happier we were able to help them, they are so sweet.
Bonnie and her babies had a severe upper respiratory infection upon exit and were placed under treatment for several weeks then we were able to do medical on them to prepare them for adoption. Everyone is doing amazingly well and are ready for adoption for a couple of months now. Bonnie was emaciated at only 6 pounds upon arrival and, of course, was not producing any milk for her babies as she herself needed nutrients. We were able to separate her from her babies to have her recover her body while her foster mom took care of the babies. She has always approached her human for pets and it's always been noticeable how appreciative she is of her babies being safe and taken care off while she recovered herself. She was very quiet and independent at first. As of 7/28 she now has the run of the foster home and seeks her foster mom's attention by jumping on the computer desk and observing things. She loves attention and being petted. She is gentle, quiet and smart/well behaved. She has always shared the cat room and now the home with other cats like senior cats and, like herself, other young adult female cats which is surprising to have such easy going adult female cats who are sharing the home, litter box, food and not causing any trouble or fights. They all chill and do their thing. Bonnie wil occasionally be found playing with her kittens but really she shared that with Puma and Esmeralda who seem to be the 'aunties' of the B babies and all the girls are making sure the babies are behaving and also showing them the ways of the world.
Bonnie loves to perch up high on the kitchen counters or high on the cat tree. She is SO beautiful and sweet. She will play with toys but mostly 'chills' and relaxes. GREAT litter box usage and a totally clean girl who likes to watch out the window but has shown ZERO indications of trying to bolt or the outside calling her name. She is content and seems cautious of dogs, she will protect her babies but if she sees the dogs being 'good' and no threat to her kitts she will just sit back and observe the dogs go by. She is not looking to be friends with dogs but also not bothered by them and scared or stressed around them. She will likely be great with children. She is always around and although she seeks attention/being petted and tolerates being picked up and carried around she also has a quirky side to her and can get excitable and try to do gentle nibbles, not often but you have to be ready to be ok with that or prevent it because she is good about listening if you see it before it happens. This girl is healthy and SO ready to find her forever family.
If you would like to adopt or foster to adopt or just foster Bonnie please submit an application online at ARWOB.org so we can communicate with you typically same day or within 3 days and if all is approved we can move forward to schedule a meet and greet in the 92117 area. Any day in the week, so don't wait for an adoption event to meet her. We don't hold events often. Perhaps once a month, the application process moves quickly so you don't have to wait long to meet her.
