UPDATE 3-15-22: Here is what Patty's foster family has to say about her:
Patty is such a sweet girl. She enjoys her family time and focused attention with us, but also can also relax in the yard suntanning. She is submissive and likes to cuddle. She has great agility, is intelligent, and obedient. She has already learned sit and loves to play fetch and drop the ball on command. She is also now leash trained and has been trained for off leash walking staying by our side and looking back to stay close to us. She enjoys car rides and going to dog parks. She is crate trained with no accidents throughout the night. She is not a barky dog. She will need continued training and socialization (like any dog). She enjoys children and has done very well with our 3 children ages 4, 6, and 8. She is truly a wonderful, sweet girl.
ORIGINAL RESCUE STORY:
Patty was rescued from Ensenada Mexico along with her 7 pups (4 boys and 3 girls). Mama Patty is a very sweet and easy going German Shepherd, who is still a bit underweight and currently in the 50 pound range. She will likely reach 60-70 pounds when she reaches a healthy weight.
She was fostered by her rescuer in Ensenada and she is now in San Diego under foster care. She was a wonderful mom to her pups and it is now her turn to be someone’s “baby” as a cared for and truly loved family member. Patty is fantastic with other dogs of all ages/sizes and had not displayed any aggression or apprehension. She would be just fine around children and does well around both women and men. She needs a home with NO kitties and probably no little “pocket pets” unless they can be kept safely away from her.
Patty is already crate trained and seems to be house trained as well. She enjoys being in the yard, but is very patient in her crate and is not really a vocal dog. She rides well in the car too! Since Patty has never been a house dog or family dog before, she would certainly benefit from being enrolled in standard dog obedience classes. Patty likes to play with the dogs in the yard, but she is not extremely energetic. Therefore, she would be fine in either an apartment or house setting.
Patty is available for adoption NOW! Please submit a dog adoption application online at ARWOB.org and a volunteer will call within 3 days of receiving your application. If you are not contacted in this time frame, please contact us to follow up on your application. If your application is approved to move forward with the adoption process, we will then set up a meet and greet. If the meet goes well, Patty can go home that same day! We do not place holds on any of our rescues.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Patty is not yet spayed. She is scheduled for surgery on 3/21/22 in the North Park area (92104). For this reason we are only accepting applications from applicants close to the area (within 40 miles), so her adopter can drive Patty to and from her spay appointment. Please, do not submit an application if your schedule doesn't allow for this. If you adopt Patty further instructions will be given regarding her spay surgery. If you are interested in this beautiful girl, please submit an online adoption application at www.arwob.org today!
