How about our Long-term residents 'Donny and Jeffrey'!
Do know they are domestic short hair/tabby mixes BUT they both have thin coats and many areas bold like around belly, legs etc HENCE we chose the rex breed in case anyone looking for that breed may be interested in a tabby MIX who slightly resemblance the rex.....
These adorable brothers are approx. a year and 4 months old and as of 7/29/22 they have been with our rescue group since they were about 2 months old AND its been 466 days!
CLIFF NOTES 7/28/22:
They are great with cats, dogs, children, healthy, excellent litter box usage, fine with large family or a working single adult......sound good? keep reading!
They arrived to ARWOB early april 2021 when someone requested help with a stray mama cat and her litter of 4 identical orange boy tabbies. Back in 7/2021 2 of the brothers were adopted together AND as of today (a year already) they are STILL waiting for that forever home who will offer stability to their life. We have redone this bios SO many times while with us so here we go, we will keep it short and brief and you can email us with any questions to animalrescuers@sbcglobal.net since we know them VERY well can help answer questions OR help us and speed up the process by just submitting a cat adoption application for our review and we can then call or email you if not the same day, then within 3 days to chat about them and see if you guys would be a good match to each other. We DO offer foster to adopt trials in which we can help provide supplies (if you request and need them) and can do so for as little as a week or as long as a couple of months. We DO need a foster family for them as well.
Jeffrey and Donny are VERY similar in personality. They do seek each other out a LOT and can be found together most of the time, be it playing and choosing to play with each other the most or taking naps and sleeping together. They are already full grown. They both have alopecia (thin coat) which may make it a great thing for people who would love less hair (they still do shed but not as much as regular cats) we can safely say they still look the same as they did when 2 months old so their alopecia is NOT advancing and they are NOT expected to lose their hair and go bold, NO, its just a thin hair coat (they were seen by dermatologist /specialist when they were teens and all tests, etc were NORMAL - so this is not a financial nor medical issue) they just look 'different'
They both have been mostly in foster care aka with foster families since rescued. We did place them at our cat adoption center during the holiday season of 2021 hoping for exposure for them but after 2 months Sweet Donny was stressed and crystals formed in his urine. We caught this potential obstruction early and he NEVER blocked he did require a different environment to not cause stress and special Rx dry food to help with the elimination of crystal production. It's been almost a year (had a recheck in Marco 2022 and all full blood panel and urinalysis was normal) and he has never had a recurring issue. Jeffrey never had one. They are HEALTHY strong boys.
They have never complained. They have been with 5 different fosters, ALL had nothing but great things to say. The last foster just had them for only one month in july 2022 and she likes them but they do affect her sleep like playing with her toes at night and being Velcro kitties following her places and trying to perch in her shoulder or on her lap when in the couch etc. Just not the right kitties for her and she prefers calmer independent kitty. I personally can say i have had them the longest as fosters and they are fantastic. I have many arwob dogs and cats as fosters and they are indifferent to them, they will seek attention of some, play with others, cuddle with favorites and rarely do they have an issue with another cat's personality. They are not very vocal unless they need something and its rare. They are very goofy and silly, gentle and 'dummy' a little just making them not the typical cat personality. If you enjoy cats, these would be a perfect match. They would love a family who will seek to play with them and pet them, sadly, i don't have much time for that AND have other fosters in the home so they just blend in the background and hence would be great to find a foster who can attend to them as a one on one, at least until an actual adopter finds their way to them. NOT SURE WHY THEY ARE STILL WITH US, its ridiculous. The few applicants who have applied for them sadly wouldn't be well matched for them to keep them safe, if we didn't have certain protocols for adoptions perhaps they would have been adopted but it's about finding them a SAFE loving home and until that happens they are welcomed here. It's no fault of their own that home just has not been found.
Please apply for this bonded duo on our home page at ARWOB.org
