Little Comet was owned by a family in Tijuana who, for lack of education, financial means, and likely uninterest in owning and carring for a dog, had her tied to a pole in the yard. Indie rescuers where informed of help needed for her pups because of living in the cold yard and a bad situation. They offered to help the pups and the mom. The owners allowed us to take the pups knowing we would come back to spay the mother in a month or so and when we came back they decided to not spay her and accepted our offer to just take her instead. We are so glad we did because this girl has been none stop excited to have an actual life! You can see the gratitude and emotion when she smiles how happy she is to have freedom. She is learning the crate training and currently is boarding while we do medical for her. She will need a foster or adopter to help us get to know her more like if she is house trained as many dogs in that situation actually self train and rarely have accidents, BUT we can't say that she is at all. She is also doing great with the Arwob dogs she has met and a few cats. Great with kids. Not sure if she has any quirks yet, but this sweet dog is certainly a great family companion at a perfect medium size who wanted to be a lab with maybe a small breed and has a docked tail (Likely genetic as one of her babies also has a very short stub for a tail)
Comet is amazing, but will do best with an adopter who is prepared to do dog training and sign up to continue to socialize her with dogs on and off leash as well as learn some basic obedience.
Comet and her pups will be available to meet forever homes and go home starting Friday 2/28 in the 92117 area code and we can only schedule meet and greets with adoption applications submitted online on our wesbite @arwob.org
