Meet Carmen!
Carmen is a very sweet dog who is a young adult and full grown. She was rescued the summer of 2019 along with her pups who have since been adopted. Carmen was rescued from Guadalajara, Jalisco and was flown in to San Diego in the summer 2019. Carmen was adopted 12/2019 and returned 01/2020 after one month of adoption because her owner mentioned her daugthers friends where visiting the home and everyone came in running and she nipped at one of the girls legs which is something that has us baffled since she is NOT the type of dog after being with us for 6 months to EVER have shown any such behavior. She actually LOVES children and her previous adopter has 2 girls in the 8-15yr old age range who loved her and she them.
Things to know about Carmen:
She is very sweet with a gentle submissive personality with people while also being a very happy energetic girl.
Good with men, women and children. Great with dogs BUT can have a 'rough' introduction on or off leash with SOME dogs but once she knows them she loves to be friends with them. She just has an alpha/weary of her surroundings type personality from living the streets of Mexico. Easily corrected by her human as long as its a human with leadership if not it could be a problem which is what happened with her previous adopter who didn't have structure, boundries and was all about love and no discipline which is what a dog like carmen needs because of her insecurities surviving the streets of Mexico. Dog training will be a must to continue to exposure her to a life as an owened dog and learn new things and situations. Althought she lives in a home with cats and can control herself with her foster who she listens to. Best in a home with NO CATS.
She is crate and house trained. She can easily jump a 4 foot fence but not a 6 foot fence.
Hasn't shown or showed separation anxiety. Is not a big barker at all. Good in car rides.
We welcome and recommend you request a foster to adopt trial for this girl to make sure she is the right match for you, by submiting a dog adoption application online.
to meet this sweet girl please submit a dog adoption application online @arwob.org
