"I wanted to give you an update on Koi...or as we affectionately call him, Koi boy! Alondra brought him (along with miss kimi) over on Friday night. Immediately he jumped up on me and was purring...he gave me lots of love and enjoyed his new kitty room. We decked it out with kitty toys, a cat condo (Esther was so nice to let him borrow it) and other goodies for him (I even built a little maze box like you had at your house) including a new kitty bed and kitty blanket. Daniel got to meet him that night and as suspected, they bonded to each other! In fact, Daniel slept with him on Friday night! The weekend went well. Esther is very curious about him and we have kept them separate and probably will till he gets a little bigger. She has hissed at him a few times when he came running up to the gate wanting to meet her. She watches him play and seems fascinated with the little guy. I think he is so quick and gets his kitten moments that she gets startled. But she has her tale up and there hasn't been any change to her which is good. She is adjusting and I think after a weeks time, she will understand that he is here to stay. Koi is quite entertaining to watch. He goes full force running and playing for about an hour and then crashes. He loves to cuddle and requires that when he naps, its on one of our laps, tucked in his blanket or next to his stuffed animals. He has been great about eating and drinking. I see he has a routine. He eats and drinks when he gets up and then goes potty. He cries and whines a little bit when he goes pee and poop. I am not sure if he is constipated but his poopies are a pretty good size and solid. I am taking him to our vet for a wellness exam tomorrow just to make sure everything is as it should be. We are so totally in love with Koi. He has only been with us a weekend and we are already so attached. I presume the next few weeks will go smoother as things become a new "normal" in our home with the new guy so I will keep you posted with his progress." --Tristina (6/27/11)
Now Cody, here's what his new family has to say about him: "Cody is a gorgeous 72.2 lb 3 year old! His coat has grown out to a full, beautiful mahogany/sable, with lots of white in it. He is very loving and has a gentle disposition. Our old 20 year old cat has finally made up with him. He brings his ball to her and wants her to play with him, but she can't be bothered! My husband took him to the annual Collie Convention last week end but he stuck to Griff like glue. It must have brought back memories of when he was at the Pet Store or something. He was the only Collie that retrieved the ball. The rest of them just watched him. He truly does love to fetch the ball. Griff walks him every morning and they are good buddies. Cody loves to be in the house during the day, when I am home. He's a real "house dog"! He loves it when the family gathers at our house - especially when our 2 youngest grandchildren are there. He also loves it when we hold the cast parties after our muscials are over. All of the cast members pet him and make over him and he eats that up! So, Cody has a loving home and we have a loving pet!"
It looks like Kira is pretty much set in her forever home. Here's what her new parents have to say about her: "Kira is doing great. She seems to have settled in just fine, and is already running the show around here. She is using the doggy door we installed on Saturday already and hasn't had an accident or chewed anything she wasn't supposed to. We have her eating 3 cups of food a day and we just started substituting some wet food in as well. We are working on the leash pulling but she listens to both of us very well. This week will be the first separation test as we leave her while we are at work." Congratulations to Kira! We are so happy that our little girl is doing so well!
"Yeah she has definitely grown! She does great with both dogs from friends and family that come to the house as well as other dogs at the park! We will keep you updated on how she does the rest of the time in puppy school as well as how much she grows along the way: ) Good luck with your new rescues!" Andrea
