To make the most out of your time, we suggest you SUBMIT an adoption APPLICATION BEFORE an adoption event.

Check the animal attendance the morning before the event to confirm attendance of a particular rescue. In addition, please check the up-to-date animals attendance list 1 HOUR BEFORE an event to know if the dog or cat you want to meet is still attending.

Also remember to review important event information BEFORE attending.

Meet Dexter!

This cute boy is living with a foster family and this is what his foster mom has to say about him:

"Dexter is a fun-loving sweetheart and is the perfect companion whether its running or hiking, or just sitting on the couch. All he wants to do is be by you. He's a great runner who motivates you to go faster and a great cuddler/lap dog. This little guy has a huge personality and will bring you smiles for miles.

Dexter is a young guy, but you would think he's an old man the way he sighs whenever he lies down (it's so cute). He is a little fearful, especially of men, so he won't be his friendly self the first time you meet him, but he quickly warms up. He is very loyal and doesn't try to get out of the yard. He is great at off-leash parks and beaches and walks right by me without a leash. He can't wait to get into his crate to sleep at night and never whines when he is in there.

Dexter will do well in any living situation whether its a small studio or house. He gets along great with his foster's dogs and cats. Don’t miss out on your chance to bring this playful and adorable little companion into your home!"

Dexter was adopted 09-2015 to be returned 11-2015 just a day before Thanksgiving! The owner reported he had bitten her boyfriend without any warning and he was not easy to walk on the leash ei leah aggression, HOWEVER, Dexter has never had a problem with any of his foster families or volunteers during events walking on leash or even better OFF leash. He also has never tried biting people out of the blue. Like any little breed and chi breeds they can become fearful and if they feel threatened or afraid of something they can fear bite, so new things or scary things he, like any other dog, has the potential to bite. We are seeking an adopter who is looking for a canine companion who is smart, well behaved, LOVING, playful, funny, house trained and mostly someone who is seeking a friend who will be forever loyal as Dexter is ALL that and more. This little guy is not a huge barker BUT can bark, if he is in the house he is pretty quiet unless someone is at the door or if he is in the yard he is quiet and loves to sun bathe or play without doggy friends (he especially likes or prefers little dogs his size to the bigger size pups) he will only bark if people are walking close to the fence.
