The foster has been working with him on his fear aggression. He is still a bit timid around men but if you let him in on his terms he warms up to men quickly. He may not be agreat dog for a home with small children but older kids that know the limits of a dog and when to quit he would be fine. He will be protective of the home and family.
He is a high energy boy and is still young. He needs a family that knows how to work with working breed dogs. He is quick to learn but needs a steady hand and consistent work. Because he is a
working breed he needs a lot of mental and physical stimulation so he does not get bored and get into trouble. He does well being outside all day and comes inside with the family at night.
He is house trained and crate trained. He is currently fostered with 3 other heelers. He does well with the other young one but is a bit to much for the very mature dogs (he does not fight with them, they just think he has too much energy so they just don't play together), he just has too much energy for the older crowd. He is also around horses, goats and cats. He does well with all of them but remember he is a heeler and he wants to get the horses and goats to move. He will easily call off of all of them and does not hurt any of them.
He may not be a great candidate for the dog park yet but with time and work he might get there eventually. He would love another younger or high energy dog to have as a brother or sister to keep him busy. He needs a yard and an active family who will throw the ball for him and then cuddle up with him at night to go to bed. He is always just 2 inches away from you any time you are around and as loyal as a dog can get. He needs a lot of toys and thinks the huge bucket of squeaky toys is the greatest thing since a dog was created. He loves to play keep away with the other heeler in the home but he plays very well and shares the squeakys with all the pets in the house.
