|
Floppy is white with silver tabby markings, a neutered adult male of about 8 pounds, and around 3 years old. As a small kitten he fell off a high wall with his brother Toppy, separating them both from their mother. They were too timid to be touched and so months of patient feeding and waiting were required until they tolerated human presence, and months more until they would allow a caress.Eventually they could be handled and captured, and were both sterilized, along with the mother. Toppy has since been adopted.
Then, unfortunately, Floppy suffered some sort of accident and was missing for several days. He found his way back, but was weak and disorientated, with dilated pupils. The vet thought it could have been the result of a head trauma. Floppy accepted his convalescence inside, and soon began to enjoy the luxuries of sleeping on a cushion or even on someone’s lap! Now, a couple of years later, Floppy is an indoor/outdoor cat who is litter box trained.
He may have lost a speck of his ‘cattitude’ since his accident, with maybe less than perfect cat-like balance and possible diminished vision, (see the video, it’s rarely perceivable) but he’s a survivor, and adaptable and sociable once his confidence has been gained, preferring to be around people, adults or children. He is very loving, but much prefers to jump up onto your lap than be picked up. He loves to be stroked and to have his neck and chin scratched and often just flops onto the floor when it’s all too much like heaven (hence his name.) He has a sheepskin rug that he loves to love, and purrs heartily. He likes to play with little toys, all balls of paper in secret when no-ones looking! He is used to other cats but has no experience of indoor dogs and doesn’t socialize with the outdoor dogs.
