Shadow is approximately a 2 year old Labrador Retriever who weighs about 70lbs. He is a great dog overall as he is very docile, quiet, and sweet. In fact, he rarely barks, not even at strange noises and his tail is always wagging when he sees people. He is SUPER dog friendly, LOVES people and is so nice and calm. Although he has not been around children and cats, we think he would be excellent around them as he is so gentle and rather well-mannered. He loves to chase balls, is playful with other dogs, and when he can will run and play. Shadow is fairly intelligent, food-motivated, and leash-trained. He would make a great companion for anyone who enjoys the calm, gentle temperment of Labs, but who is looking for a lower energy Lab. He is healthy and SO HANDSOME!
Shadow was rescued from a ranch in Baja, Mexico where the owners were no longer caring for him, so we found him wandering the dirt roads in a very rural area. They said he had been hit by a car several months ago and had been limping for a while. Therefore, he does have a left hind leg that needs to be checked by a veterinarian. So when he has his neuter appointment we will take x-rays to see what the damage is. He walks and moves around just fine and doesn't seem to guard his leg around other dogs; his leg doesn't seem painful to him. He is still able to go out on walks and chase after his favorite ball, but he does tire quicker and tends to lie down often. We are hopeful it's not a surgical case, but if it is we will of course take care of it before adoption.
