UPDATE - 5/15/2011
Torrey and her siblings are recent rescues to the group (about a month). They came to us very malnourished and we then started to provide the food and medications they needed such as the first set of vaccinations/deworming. Unfortunately, unaware to us immediately, they had been exposed to the Parvo virus, a fatal disease within in puppies. A day before mothers day the pups started to exhibit signs and they tested positive for the disease. After 5 days of treatment they have THANKFULLY fully recovered. As of 5/12/11 Torrey has excellent appetite, is very energetic and even though she still looks a bit skinny from all the weight she lost during her sick period she will probably gain a lot of it back in the next couple of weeks since she is eating VERY well. She is now out of danger and doing amazing, her veterinarian has given her a clean bill of health.

NOTE TO ADOPTERS: There are a couple of requirements at this time: 1) Adopter needs to have access to a secluded area where the puppy can go potty i.e. yard/patio, etc. They are NOT allowed to go into the neighborhood until they are fully vaccinated (a 3-6 week period). 2) Prefer a home with fully vaccinated adult/senior dogs, no other puppy's in home for another month, *unless adopting a sibling*. We can explain the motives for these 2 requirements upon interest.

Tanner & Torrey are thriving and excellent in nature. The foster mom who is also a vet tech and treated them during their recovery of Parvo is SO PROUD of these 2 for being excellent patients and making a sad/hard disease such a breeze. With such great pups with such great personalities it's such a blessing that these two were able to make it. After spending 24hrs in a crate for 5 days you would think they would hate being crated, but they don't! They are such good pups, they are very well crate trained as they patiently and quietly wait to go potty outside... They are so silly when jumping up & down and running around like crazy puppies in the yard!

If you are interested in Tanner or Torrey, but have some concerns or hesitations because of what they just went through, please call us or email us and will be happy to answer any questions or concerns. Please, fill an adoption application on line. Thank you!

Torrey is a 4 month old Retriever/Lab mix who weighs about 12 pounds at the moment. We think she may reach 35-45lbs, so medium sized. She rides very well in the car without getting sick, is crate-trained, and overall, fairly well-behaved for a puppy. She is healthy, not very vocal and LOVES other dogs, cats, and ALL people. Super sweet, social and outgoing.
