About Kona | |
|
|
Kona is a sweet and submissive 1 year old dog. He is a petite little guy with a baby face. Many people have mistaken him for a puppy since he's so small!
Kona has been to Basic Obedience class and knows basic commands: he knows how to sit, lie down, come, stay, and even shake. He does very well with these commands and is so well-behaved in general.
Kona is very playful and and social. Not only does he get along fabulously with his foster family, but he gets along well with dogs. He maybe unsure about a few dogs at first, but after the initial greeting, he'll settle down and may enjoy a romp or two with them. Kona is such a gentle soul and gets along great with cats as he tends to ignore them while enjoying their extra company at the same time. He does extremely well with humans as well. If he comes across a stranger, he might be somewhat timid at first, but with a few gentle pats he warms right up and calmly enjoys their company.
Kona is such a friendly and fantastic dog! When anyone returns home, he warmly greets them with a soft stare and erratic tail wag. He hardly jumps (maybe once if he's really excited and happy) and if he does they are very light. Then, when you have settled down to meet with him on the floor, he love LOVES to crawl up to you, find his way into your lap, and roll on his back for belly rubs. He's such a sweet heart! He'll also share his toys, food, and everything with everyone and does not seem to be aggressive whatsoever. Kona is also very soft-spoken and will rarely bark except at strange noises or if the other neighborhood dogs are causing a commotion. He's very gentle on the leash and does pretty well passing by barking dogs in yards. He loves car rides and sits calmly in the back.
Kona is fully crate-trained and sleeps peacefully through the night in it, but one should be cautious about his potty-training. He MIGHT lift the leg once or twice in a new home to do 'territory marking,' but once that is over and done with he settles right in and uses the doggy door very well.
Kona would prefer a home with another companion or someone who is home often as he does not like to be alone. If you are able to give him the love he needs, please don't hesitate to fill out an application!
