|
Louie is a DSH/Tabby mix and is about 1 1/2 years old has a tragic story but hopefully a happy ending which you can read below.
As a summary - Louie is trully a great kitty, he is funny and loving. Just a normal kitty who lost eye sight from his left eye but he can care less as he runs through the house like a crazy kitty chasing Bitty or being chased by Bitty. He doesn't do well at adoption events as he gets really scared so we would prefer to show him at our home or come to yours. He has a lot of a kitten personality the way he plays, acts and talks. He would do great in a home with cat friendly dogs, cats and older children. Please call us and give this fantastic kitty an opportunity by either fostering or fostering to adopt! Also, please consider adopting him or fostering him with his best friend Bitty. There adoption fee would be waived upon home check approval.
On December 25th, a good sam brought Louie to an emergency animal hospital. Her 2 Jack Russels had just attacked a kitten that was wandering around in her back yard. When she noticed what was happening, she swept the kitty up and drove him to the vet hospital. Upon examination Louie had no injuries, not visible anyway, but was soaking wet with dog slober and was very aggressive as any cat would be after getting attacked. He was given pain medications and treated as an animal control kitty. We were contacted and took him under our wing. The next day, Louie showed his true sweet personality even though he was a bit brused up and limping on his hind leg. There was a potential and slight problem with his diaphgram as well but it did not need surgical repair.
He stayed in the hospital under cage arrest for about a month. He was then taken into foster care when his foster mom realized he was blind. He was hit and thrown around so hard that it gave him head trauma and caused blindness in one eye. Because of this he is a bit 'funny' when he walks. For example, when he turns around, he only turns around on his left side and when he drinks water his left paw is always inside the water bowl. That is just the little problems that come from his 'perception' problem when trying to adjust to being blind in one eye. But don't let that fool you. He can follow toys just fine and chases his foster siblings all through out the house without a problem. Louie can jump, but he has difficulty on higher counters, so essentially he is a bit clumpsy, which makes him even more fun and silly. He can make you laugh and smile when he stands on his back feet and asks you to lift him up onto your lap when one is at the computer desk.
