Meet Lukas!

This adorable baja mutt was rescued along with his sister Lulu as young pups. We don't know what his breed is, what we do know is he is a medium breed who 'looks' like a boston terrier but in reality he is a super mutt with many breeds. As of 2/25 he has been in a foster home with a couple in a apartment living. He is fantastic with dogs and when tested with cats did well but has not lived with them. Lukas is a healthy young teenager who was vetted in san diego. The following is what his foster mom has to say about him:

"Lukas has been doing absolutely amazing. Lukas is a shy, sweet soul who just wants to be loved! He is reserved when you first meet him, but as soon as he warms up to you, he just wants to be close to you, snuggle up on the couch, and get all of the pets, treats, and belly rubs!

Lukas is a very independent guy - he likes to play by himself and is content just being in the same room as you even if you aren't giving him your undivided attention.

He has been with us in our condo for  2 weeks now and he has not had a single accident in the house. He lets us know whenever he needs to go out and when we take him he goes right to the patch of grass in front of our condo and does his business.

Lukas is very comfortable in his crate and sleeps soundly through the night. He has no signs of separation anxiety and does just fine if he is left alone in his crate.  Lukas does great in his crate when we are both away. The longest we have left him was about 4 hours and he was completely fine. 8 hours might be a long time for him just because he typically needs a bathroom break every 3-4 hours but if the couple had a yard or area for him to access that should be okay.

Lukas absolutely loves his daily walks, he is curious about all the sights and smells. We are working on his leash manners and he is doing amazing, he knows to heel and not pull. We have been working with him on his commands and he is a master at "sit"!

He is super friendly with other dogs. He is pretty shy about approaching larger dogs, but if they come to him, he will politely sniff and say hello. Lukas does not bark or show any signs of being reactive. He responds right away to light tug on the leash to get his attention back to you.

Lukas would be fine with older children who could understand that he is shy/timid and to give him time to warm up before reaching for him or touching him. He does not bite but he does cower, occasionally barks and run away if strangers and even sometimes myself or Chad reach out for him. Lukas' timidness does not discriminate, haha -- he is very wary of new adults so I can only assume he would be wary of children who might not understand his boundaries and that he doesn't want to play right away.

For being just a puppy, Lukas is an absolute dream, and such a good boy!"

To schedule a meet and greet with this wonderful and handsome pup, please submit an application online at ARWOB.org
