Meet Military babies!
Scout, Justice and Freedom!
Well, aside from the obvious name theme for a breed who often serve as military dogs, their rescue story also determined their names. This trio of siblings were rescued the last week of January when a rescuer happened to be driving on a dirt road while running errands. She and her husband noticed a very young pup on the side of the road wondering in/out of the bushes scared trying to figure out his way. They pulled over, coaxed him to them and checked things out. He was unharmed but very thin and flea infested. They looked around to see if he belonged to anyone or to see if there was an adult dog or other pups. Nothing was seen or heard so they had to go. Scout was placed in the car and fed (as rescuers they always have food in their car) and he ate voraciously and fell asleep until they were running errands and took him to a local vet for a quick check up. From there took him home. They decided to drive back to the same area the next day, double back as its typica to find more siblings and hopefully a parent that may need assistance and rescue as well. To their surprise they found 2 other pups, both females, first little Freedom and a few moments later Justice appeared. Both also visibly dirty and thin. They decided to drive around and a mile later found a property and realized they belonged to a home. Unfortunately, not a great home. Scout, Freedom and Justice belonged to a dog owner who actually owns both parents and both are Belgian Malinois. Its visible those dogs also needed assistance. Thankfully they relinquished the pups as its obvious they are struggling to feed the dogs and their property is not secured. Scout was very smart in leaving and seeking help, as the girls to follow.
The 3 pups are fostered in Ensenada, Mexico. As of 3/20 they are fostered by their rescuer and are healthy steadily gaining weight. They were approx. 7 weeks when rescued at 5 pounds each and as of 3/20 are now 12-15 pounds and like all Belgians will grow to be in the 45-55 pound range a nice medium size breed.
We are looking for adopters and fosters in san diego. These babies are INTELLIGENT at only 3.5mo their foster has taught them to sit, down and wait for eat. Scout learned the fastest, followed by freedom and justice. Scout and Freedom are approx. same size while justice is bit bigger. Between both girls Justice is the smartest and most focus to do something ei work or learn while Freedom is a tad more gentle and more about the cuddles ei freedom will sit for just a pet vs needing a treat reward. ALL 3 are very intelligent, social with both humans, dogs and cats since their foster has done an amazing job so far with them. They are young pups who need an adopter who will be enrolling in dog training classes, be active and make sure they are kept on both physical and environmental enrichments. DO NO ADOPT this breed if you have not thoroughly researched their needs. They need leaders who are also loving.
To adopt these cuties, please, submit an application for adoption online at arwob.org we will contact you to schedule a call to talk about the adoption process in the hopes we can move fwd with scheduling a meet and greet in the 92111 area to schedule their transport to san diego.
NOTE - The pups are not yet sterilized as we'd like to have it done in san diego and they are scheduled to be sterilized mid April in the north park area (92104 zip code) we are specifically looking for adopters local to san diego to ensure this appointment is kept.
