Meet Almond!

Almond (fka Almendra)

Almond is an adorable terrier mix. She resembles the breeds we chose BUT we have NO lineage knowledge so for all we know she could be coyote/werewolf mix. She was rescued from the streets of Baja Mexico (Ensenada) in early September. She is in San Diego at ARWOB headquarters currently fostered with multiple dogs and has supervised interaction with some of the ARWOB kitties. Almond can be aged anywhere between 10 months to potentially 1.5yrs old. She is playful and active but also doesn't exhibit the crazy energy of a young pup, unless its happy/play time. 
She has short, double, wiry coat and what you see on the pictures is what you get. 

As of 10/25 we write this update and is 13.5lbs already full grown. Making her a small breed although because of her body type (think of a Italian greyhound tallish skinny legs) she doesn't look very small. She is an adorable, sweet, smart and loving girl who is already spayed and up to date on all medical making her READY to go home. She is crate trained but anyone interested in Almond needs to know:
She is likely not house trained, not potty trained and has no dog training. All of these doesn't she is horrible it just means anyone interested adopting a dog needs to be ready to do the work. From house training, to potty training and of course signing up in basic dog obedience training. Just because she is a social, friendly sweet and playful dog doesn't mean she is perfect but will need an adopter who understands putting in the work for the first couple of months of adopting to have an amazing dog for their lifetime. She has not exhibited any weirs or concerning behavior and will be an excellent companion. 

Ideally she would be adopted into a home with other dogs, if not, we would love an adopter who can take her to dog parks or areas where she can comingle with doggy friends. She has not lived with children but she has interacted with them and does great. She has not shown herself to be a big barker but again, that doesn't mean in a different home she won't start to be barky, it really depends on the adopter and what she is allowed to do or not and be corrected. 

This beautiful girl would love to be adopted to a family ready for that amazing companionship a dog can provide but also a leader who is ready to make sure this girl is an amazing family dog with doggy manners and knowing Almond she will be a perfectly trained dog in no time she just needs a family for the first time in her life to show her what a house and family member is all about. It has been a pleasure having Almond and we are ready to pass the baton to her person. 

We do NOT know if she is hypoallergenic nor a Non shedder as there are cats and dogs in the home she is currently in so if you have dog allergies we don't recommend you apply for her. She does seem to have some poodle/course/wiry short double coat so we don't think she will need haircuts but yes brushing. We have not groomed her only bath her since rescue which means we think the coat you see is how long it gets.
