These beautiful sisters were rescued from the Devore shelter along with 20 other kitties who were red listed and ready to be euthanized in a couple of days for lack of space. We realized all 20 kitties had horrible upper respiratory infections and. hence. quarantined and treated them for 3 weeks. They had to be quarantined in a kennel while receiving treatment and sadly, they were already scaredy cats. Now,the added time secluded and not socialized as most kittens. we realize these little ladies need some R & R and more human touch and socialization. Thankfully, a new foster family received our plea for help and thethe girls have been in foster care since 6/2/22. They have a nice big room all for themselves where they enjoy all the toys in the world and are having a blast!
We await an update from their foster family soon. The girls do not need to be adopted together but likely would do best together as Fig seems to have a little trust issue with humans and takes some cues from her sister, Apple, to relax. Although they do NOT need to be adopted together they DO need to be adopted into a family with other cats, ideally a cat that is social and outgoing so that they can have a good mentor to help them socialize and learn to be more social towards humans by 'watching and learning' from others. The girls enjoy other kitties' companionship and they LOVE their food. They may benefit from a family with children or adults who want to expose them to a lot of touch, hugs and making sure they continue to be socialized during these important early stages in their life. Currently, they are only 3 pounds and 3 months so we need to continue to work with them so they can be friendlier with humans.
Summary of adoption process:
Submit an application online @ ARWOB.org, contact us via email within 3 days to check on the status of your application IF you have not heard from one of our volunteers first.
Once a phone interview is scheduled (typically 10-15min chat) we can finish processing the adoption or foster application and hopefully move forward to set up a meet and greet in 92117 area
Typically, adopted or foster kitties go home the same day as the meeting.
If the adoption application is not approved you will receive an email with notification.
Adoptions can take 2-7 days from the time we receive application to the day kitty goes home.
It's really dependent on applicants' ability to provide the rescue group with the items needed to finalize an adoption. For example - if you rent, we recommend you have already received written approval from your landlord stating you may have a cat or multiple as that would be a determining factor on how FAST an adoption occurs.
We DO NOT place Holds on rescues- IF you are not ready to adopt within the week you submit the application, we recommend waiting to submit an application until you are ready, as that rescue may no longer be available when you are ready.
WE DO NOT DO SAME DAY ADOPTIONS - IF you are looking for a NOW/TODAY adoption, don't waste your time submitting an application online and we recommend you visit your local city shelter to find a new family member.
