Meet Fox!
UPDATE 3-22-22:
WARNING! Fox is full grown at 32-35 pounds, so if you are looking for a dog that size keep reading, otherwise please check other Shepherd rescues.
If you are looking for an AMAZING dog who is not only gentle, loving, and SMART, but also has the perfect level of energy that is true to the shepherd breeds, then you have found him!
Here are the important things to know about Fox: He is amazing with all dogs, both big and small. He has lived in a home with 3 small children ranging in age from 5-10 years old. He is SMART, which means he would thrive with someone who is looking for an active companion to hike, run, or just have fun. He would love any activity that resembles a “job” like learning puzzles and doing agility tests (he can jump high when he sets his mind to it). Yet, he can also be calm and nondestructive because he doesn’t have “crazy” energy. If you live in San Diego and love the breed, but live in an apartment setting, he is the PERFECT sized dog. Fox is already full grown at 35 pounds, which makes him the perfect medium sized dog!
Fox is currently fostered in a home with 2 adults, 3 kids, and a home with a yard. He would love to spend time at the dog park, dog beach, or maybe even doggy daycare. His ideal owner will be someone ready to participate in dog obedience training and get him enrolled in training classes right away. He just loves “homework” and learning new things!
This boy can jump and almost clear a 5-foot fence under the right circumstance (i.e. if he really wanted to get out of the yard). He would not be able to jump over a normal 6-foot fence and he is NOT an escape artist, nor has he ever gotten out of the yard. His foster family has easily taught him to sit, lay down, roll over, and fetch. He picks things up and learns very quickly, usually after a few tries!
Fox is a great dog that may do best in a home that is active, with lots of exercise, and a dog friend would help too. Ideally he would do best with an experienced dog owner, who understand that a shepherd needs basic training and has physical exercise needs. He gets walked every morning, and he also goes to the dog park regularly. He LOVES a lot of physical and mental stimulation, which is typical of his breed. Fox is also a HUGE cuddle bug and loves to be pet, while lying down on his back, getting lots to attention. :-) We absolutely love Fox and think he is amazing!
If you are interested in this fantastic boy, please submit a dog adoption application at www.arwob.org right away. Don’t wait!
