Meet Maize's babies: Cleo, Athena, Zeus, and Pancho!
Mama Maize and her 4 newborns were rescued the first week of May and are all doing wonderful. The kittens are now in a foster home together since Maize finished nursing and she is now enjoying freedom from her babes in her own foster home.
Maize is a petite tabby mix and her kittens certainly do look a lot like her. ALL have different coloring of course but same body type and all are very sweet and socialized. They were rescued from the streets of Tijuana, Mexico. Currently in a foster home in San Diego since early May.
They are READY to be adopted, healthy and UTD on medical!
Foster Update for Cleopatra, Pancho, Zeus, and Athea 7/21:
All four of our kitties are used to being around small dogs and seem to be fine with them. My little shitzu doesn't care for them and growls when they come near and the kitties handle that fine and just walk away. They are all very playful with each other and would probably do best in pairs. I wouldn't say it matters who is with who as they all seem to mix up who they play with and cuddle with. Since they have been given free roam of the house, they have become very people friendly and are always in the room we are in and either sit next to or on us. They have not been around small kids. Not younger than 13. I think they would be fine since they are not skittish or afraid. Clelpatra is a total love bug and likes people the most followed by Athena. The boys are sweet and loving, but not in such an in your face sort of way. I would say Zeus is least likely to enjoy a dog as his buddy but that is mostly because he just avoids mine. My female 6 lb dog sort of avoids the cats so aside from being in a room together or sitting on the couch together they don't really interact. All 4 kittens are outgoing and confident with the girls being the most active and the boys a little more laid back.
Cleopatra (she goes by Cleo: : is a playful little girl with a roaring purr. She has a sweet face with large green eyes. She likes to take long naps after an energetic play time. She will crawl under the convers and snuggle up to you and is always happy to greet you when you come home. Cleo likes to play with toys and snuggle with her siblings at nap time.
Pancho: is a very independent guy. He loves to sleep lying next to you and is a little more laid back than his siblings. He loves playing with his little mouse toys and often carries them around with him. He wrestles with his siblings and likes to be held. Pancho has a nice full coat with beautiful markings.
Zeus: is a very laid back and friendly dude. He loves to play with his sister Athena. He is the largest of the litter and has beautiful blue eyes. Zeus has been around small dogs and other cats and seems to do fine. He is confident and affectionate and would do great with a playmate.
Athena: is the energetic and brave one of the bunch. She has no fear and is always the first to investigate anything new. She is a social butterfly who loves attention and wants to be close to you at all times. Once she has taken a break from her mischievous ways, she loves to sleep on you and get pets. She loves to play with her siblings and would love a playmate. She has a beautiful calico coat with orange ears and sweet green/blue eyes. She's the most adventurous and affectionate of all!
Would you like to meet and possibly adopt these cuties? First, submit a cat adoption application online for review at www.arwob.org. A volunteer will call you to finish processing your application and, if approved to adopt, we can schedule an actual meet and greet to interact with these kitties at our cat adoption center located at the PetSmart in Clairemont where the foster parent will bring them for you to meet.
Meet and greets can happen pretty quickly as long as applicants can gather all the items from our adoption check list and have them ready. ARWOB does NOT place HOLDS on rescues, so please, only submit an application to adopt if you are READY to adopt within 2-7 days of submitting the application. Typically, the same day of meet and greet (assuming interaction goes well) is the same day of adoption to avoid multiple meetings.
IF a team member doesn't contact you within 72hrs of submitting an application, please follow up with us via email or phone call, otherwise, it may be overseen.
Ideally, these kittens will be adopted together or with another friend. Applicants could mix and match a friend to adopt together, BUT the important factor to adopt kittens is that kittens are adopted either with a sibling, a friend, or into a home with other feline friends because kittens are very cat oriented and can get lonely.
If you would like to meet this sweetheart, submit the adoption application online at our home page ARWOB.org ASAP!
