Meet Lupita!
UPDATE 3-29-21:
Lupita is a female Shepherd mix who is 4-5 months old, approximately 25 pounds. She engages in the typical puppy shenanigans! She is great with dogs, cats and people. She should be okay with kids ("meet and greet" dependent). She is good on the leash and is crate trained. She is not vocal and rides well in the car.
Lupita does have a history of being a "fear biter," BUT that was weeks ago when she first arrived at ARWOB. She was under-socialized when she arrived and scared of "new" things. She is now a "normal" puppy since she has been socialized with a lot of people and has had many outings. Of course we still need to read her body language should something make her feel uncomfortable (usually people, not dogs as she’s got a submissive personality towards dogs), but she has not shown any indication of fear anymore and should be fine. Lupita would make a great hiking buddy if you are an active outdoorsy person!
Lupita will be available for adoption after 4/9/21 in case you’d like to submit an application for adoption at www.arwob.org Don’t wait!
ORIGINAL RESCUE STORY:
Lupita is a loyal, smart and very loving young pup who can easily become scared and insecure. If she becomes fearful, she can and will try to snap/bite, as she is a fear biter. However, it only takes certain situations for her to get in that state of mind and then she quickly recovers and gains your trust. She will need an experienced adopter, especially someone who is knowledgeable about socialization and positive gentle reinforcement. Because of her fear biting, we would recommend a home without children (especially if the kids are not “savvy” and have not lived with dogs before).
