UPDATE 2-6-21: Here is what Alina's foster mom has to say about her:
"Alina is a sweet heart, she loves to run and play with you and her foster brother, Tomas. She also loves to be loved on and have her belly scratched. Alina is sort of food motivated, she likes food but will not go crazy over it. She loves to explore, but will need to learn how to walk on a leash and other manners. She wants to learn but still has puppy energy/behavior."
ORIGINAL RESCUE STORY:
Alina was relinquished by a family in Ensenada, who was moving to an apartment and could not take her with them. They had gotten her from a friend when she was just 6 weeks old and had been told she was a Chihuahua mix. Unfortunately, she just kept growing and we believe she may be closer to a Lab/Pit/Terrier mix of some kind. She is not terribly big for a 7-month old pup, so she is actually a nice medium-sized dog, who will likely not get any larger than 45 pounds. In fact, we think she will probably stay in the upper 30-pound range when full grown.
Poor Alina had a hard time when she first arrived into ARWOB’s care. She missed the kids from her previous family, who had kept her company. She has since adjusted and occasionally sees little neighborhood children. Alina has an outgoing personality and is doing well with other dogs and people. She has not yet been exposed to cats, so we do not know how she might be around them. She is an energetic dog, so we are looking for an active adopter, who can take her on walks and hikes. Alina is crate trained, but mostly plays in the yard with other dogs and has not had any basic puppy training. Therefore, we are looking for an adopter who has the time and enthusiasm to provide her with the training she will need to be the perfect family dog.
Since Alina is a brand new ARWOB rescue, she will not be available for adoption until 2/19/21. This is because she will need to go through quarantine and her spay surgery. We will be setting up “meet and greets” with Alina as soon as Friday, 2/19/21. We recommend that if you are interested in this pretty girl, to submit an online adoption application at www.arwob.org. This will get the process started and if your application is approved, we will schedule a meet and greet for you. If the meet and greet session goes well, Alina can be adopted that same day. Please note that we do not place holds on any of our rescues, therefore please do not apply unless you are available to meet Alina as soon as 2/19/21.
