Meet Doris!

UPDATE 11/16/20:  We received the following update from Doris' foster mom:"

"Doris is a sweet, mellow and cuddly little girl. She loves everyone and is eager to please, with just enough enhusiasm and mischievous ideas to make her a lot of fun too! She loves squeaky plush toys and enjoys fetching them: she does so with the funniest butt wiggle as she runs after them, followed by a pounce ending up in a slide.

She is good with her foster sister (a notoriously grumpy senior chi mix) and respected her boundaries from the get-go, even though she gently and respectfully tries to entice her to play on a regular basis. Doris is also good with our 3 cats. She is interested and curious about the parrot and 2 bunnies in our household, but hasn't displayed any kind of prey drive towards them so far.

Doris sleeps in a crate at night without complaints and is not a barker either:  I haven't heard her bark once in the whole week she has been here, so she may be a good fit in an apartment household.

She however still needs to be patiently offered yard walks at regular intervals, as she doesn't seem fully housebroken yet."

Because of COVID-19, sterilization appointments are not easy to arrange.  This means Doris can only be adopted to a local family in the San Diego area to ensure they are able to take her to the pre-scheduled surgery appointment.

Surgery schedule Friday 11/20/2020.  This surgery is scheduled in the 92104 zip code.

Therefore, please do NOT submit an application if you are not local to San Diego and able to attend the appointment shown above.  If you would like to adopt and live outside of San Diego area, you are welcome to wait until her sterilization surgery has been completed to see if she is still available at that time.  Please refer to our adoption policy regarding out-of-area adopters: https://www.arwob.org/info/adoption

NoteWe are giving priority to applicants who are willing to adopt immediately (we are not offering a foster-to-adopt trial for Doris).

ORIGINAL RESCUE STORY:

Doris was rescued from Mexico after a good Samaritan noticed she had been left abandoned in the back of a truck.  She was tethered to the back of the abandoned truck with no shelter from weather and we do not know why.  She had been there a couple of days before the good Sam decided to take her in and help her.

Doris can be shy upon initial approach, but she quickly gains confidence and trust.  She has opened up a lot and she is flourishing as we get to know her true personality.  She is great with dogs, cats, and kids!  She is a full grown terrier, so her ideal adopter will be someone who will provide her with training and additional socialization, so that she can become the perfect member of the family.

If you would like to adopt this adorable girl, please submit an online adoption application at www.arwob.org.  Don't wait!

If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application.
