These pups were rescued from a Tijuana family, who owns the mama dog. She is a very sweet, gentle, and loving black and white pitbull/lab mix, who was not spayed. The family’s two male dogs, who are a yellow lab and a black shepherd, impregnated her even though they kept them all separated. Accidents happen...hence, the importance of sterilizing your pets!
The family is very humble and loving, but had no financial means to sterilize their pets. An ARWOB volunteer was made aware of the situation and approached the owner to offer help. Thankfully, the family relinquished the pups to ARWOB and accepted having their 3 adult dogs sterilized if we sponsored their surgeries. Now we have 5 ADORABLE very much look-alike siblings, who have THE sweetest, friendly, fun, and smart personalities! They look mostly lab, but some shepherd and pitbull is likely mixed in their genes. Therefore, we prefer they are adopted by families who do not have a problem with the pit breed or have housing issues with this breed, thereby making sure it will be a secure forever home. You can see a picture of the mother dog and two fathers on the bios of the pups as well. As time goes by we will update with better pictures and videos as they become available.
The father dogs are approximately 35-45 pounds and the mother is approximately 50-65 pounds, so we believe these pups will be in the range of 40-60 pounds when full grown.
There are 5 pups: 4 girls (Rio, Beth, Annie, Ruby) and 1 boy (Dean). As of 9/25, Rio and Dean are fostered together in the 92117 area, until they can find a permanent adopter. Ruby, Beth, and Annie are in the 92111 and still need a foster family and/or or adopter.
The entire family is healthy and ready for adoption. However, because of COVID, sterilization appointments are not easy to arrange. This means the pups can only be adopted to local families in the San Diego area to ensure they are able to take their newly adopted puppy to the pre-scheduled surgery appointment.
Therefore, please do NOT submit an application if you are not local to San Diego and able to attend the appointments shown below. If you would like to adopt and live outside of San Diego area, you are welcome to wait until their sterilization surgeries have been completed to see if the rescue you are interested in is still available.
Surgery schedule for the pups: Note: These surgeries are scheduled in the 92104 zip code.
Wednesday 11/11/2020 - Annie and Beth
Monday 12/07/2020 - Ruby, Rio, Dean
The pups are ready for their “meet and greets” as soon as 09/28, which are typically the day they will be ready for adoption, and these meetings will be scheduled in the 92117 zip code.
The pups are all very social and playful. Like all young puppies, they are NOT house trained and are working on learning crate training. Adopters should have time for puppy training, house training, and socialization. To meet and possibly adopt one of these cuties, please submit an adoption application online at www.arwob.org
