Update 10/27/2020 :
Phil is the most handsome, gentle, and sweet-natured Pitty mix pup. He is currently 29 pounds with a dense and muscular body, but he is not very “large looking” so he may pass as a medium-sized breed. We do not think he is going to be very big in size, just in weight. We imagine he will double in size to be in the 55-65 pound range when full grown. Please do NOT submit an application for this handsome boy if you are not looking for a Pit Bull mix. Many people say he looks like a Lab, Vizsla or Ridgeback, but we know he is a Pit Bull mix. Therefore, if you are a renter and your landlord has issues with the Pit Bull breed, then this handsome and sweet gentleman is not for you. Phil is crated trained and he is excellent with dogs, cats, and humans. He is a little shy when he first meets you, but quickly warms up and comes over to say hello.
UPDATE 10-16-20 : Here is what Phil’s foster family has to say about him:
“We bought him a bigger enclosed crate and he's very calm, and sleeps well all night in it without complaints (8hours). He is finally used to going for walks with a leash, but still a bit nervous around cars and noise and tends to pull back towards the house when we don't direct him. He is heeling pretty good now as well. He is surprisingly happy with other dogs as its hard to do a walk without running into several around here. I took him off-leash in a closed area where a couple of other dogs were there and he was great around them. He is also very good around people (VERY friendly). He was pretty whiny when put in the back yard by himself early on (lots of separation anxiety), but he is really good out there now when left alone for a few hours. Although we did lose a couple of seat cushions when he got bored but that is on us. No barking to speak of. He is very playful and surprisingly good at fetching a ball. He brings it right back and drops it at your feet. House training has been the only challenge, although his foster dad indicated that they have made addition progress this week with house training!”
ORIGINAL RESCUE STORY :
Meet The Modern Family pups!
These adorable lab/pointer/pit mix pups were rescued from the streets of Ensenada in mid July, a total of 5 siblings (2 girls/3 boys), who were full of parasites and mangy pups, but they have now been treated and ready for adoption. They are typical active, social, playful, silly, energetic pups. They will likely grow to be in the 45-70lb range and we don't have information on the parents.
Like all pups, They are very outgoing and will need an adopter who is willing to enroll them in dog training classes. They are already crate trained and the ideal and best adopter will be one who owns a home instead of renting in order to avoid landlord approvals, which can be hard for any pit bull mix
They will be available for meet and greets the weekend of 8/28
The meet and greet will be scheduled in the 92117 area and we are accepting applications now. Please submit online at arwob.org
Don't wait...Submit an adoption application today!
