Meet Elvis Catsley,
This handsome big fella was adopted from ARWOB back in September 2019 to a single working adult with no other pets. He was just relinquished back to ARWOB and this is what his 'owner' had to say:
" At first I believed his hateful temperament to be missing siblings and getting adjusted. Five months later he has not adjusted. He bites, scratches and attempts to bolt every time the door opens .... Recently he has taken to pouncing on my body in the middle of the night. I can no longer have my grandchildren over because I don’t trust him. I constantly bear scratch marks. I have tried everything I know to make him comfortable and happy. He is not. I am not. I don’t know what else to do and if you don't contact me back I will do as I please with this cat who is NO LONGER WORKING FOR ME..."
It is without saying we were terrified at the behavior from someone we approved to adopt this handsome and OH SO SWEET boy from our care 5 months ago and got him back as soon as we could. Not even a day back with ARWOB and all the volunteers have nothing but amazing things to say about this poor kitty who returned a bit "chunky" for his age at almost 14 pounds and only 11 months. The poor guy was unhappy and we are glad he is back with us as it's obvious we goofed up allowing this person to adopt an amazing teen kitten who is active, loving, and playful like all cats. We are seeking an adopter with cat experience who knows cats' shenanigans and scratching comes with the territory, which can be avoided by learning to trim cat nails, or taking to the groomer/vet to have it done, or apply soft paws on the nails to prevent accidental play scratches.
We will be updating his pictures and videos on 2/20/20. Elvis would love to be adopted into a home with other pets or a cat savvy adopter who understands cats' need for companionship like all living beings and environmental enrichment (like a decent cat tree) among other things which are the key to prevent boredom when they are left home alone.
