These 3 pups were rescued from Chapala, Mexico by an ARWOB volunteer who was visiting friends in that area. She rescued Feather, the little female pup, when she found out her owner (who also owned Feather’s mom) had a litter of pups and people would come and pick up the male pups leaving the female pup behind. Sadly, it‘s a common practice in Mexico to take males and leave females at their luck. The ARWOB volunteer sponsored Feather’s mom‘s spay and she stayed with her owner who was not interested in relinquishing her to us. Feather was flea and tick infested, her poor ears had a bouquet of ticks, and she was shy, running in a field afraid of people. After a few days, she was approachable and, ever since, she loves and trusts people now. We think she will be a medium size pup when full grown. sort of a collie/shepherd mix.
Bow and Arrow were rescued by a local rescue group when one of their members noticed a truck driver, a few cars ahead of them, who tossed out a box and they realized they had pups inside. They quickly stopped to check them and there were no obvious injuries, They were taken to the vet to start vaccines and nothing was reported. The pups were in a dog kennel at the shelter and the staff asked the Arwob volunteer if we could take the pups as they were not going to do well with lack of food and space for them.
The 3 pups were flown to the Tijuana airport where we picked them up and they are now in San Diego. They will be available for adoption the first week of April, but can also do a foster to adopt trial prior to their sterilization.
We did realize one of the male pups has abnormal front legs and looks like a cowboy and has little arched legs. The pictures are not photoshopPedro and it’s what he looks like. We do have an appointment with a local SD board certified surgery department to do some diagnostics and assessment to see if they believe it‘s genetic or trauma, and if his legs need to be fixed with surgery or be who he is. He shows no pain or uncomfortable levels and acts like a normal, playful, active, loving puppy.
