|
Bart was originally rescued as a pair of strays who were malnourished and frightened. He and his sister, Lisa, were rescued together, but, sadly, these kittens were kept in a kennel by someone who rescued them and didn't know better about the importance of socializing them properly.
When we first took in Bart, he was terrified of just about everything, but, as of now, he has made Huge strides, thanks to our Arwob volunteers who have really been working with him.
Bart enjoys playing and being petted....especially all around his head, as well as having his chin scratched. He really is a super sweet, affectionate boy and once he knows that he can trust you, he will turn on his purr machine. He especially loves playing and interacting with a feather wand. He can be a "big baby" when confronted with new things, but with some loving, he comes around, begins to trust, and becomes a total love bug!
He feels more comfortable in smaller areas, but we are sure that he will come along even more with the right family to love and work with him. He is fine with other calm kitties, but has not been tested around dogs and they may frighten him, so he would really need time to acclimate.
At this point, Bart does not enjoy being held and carried around. Because of this and the fact that he responds well to a slow approach and gentle hand,as far as being around children, we think he would be ok only with calm, gentle children with no fast approaches and who are old enough to understand this about him.
With continuing love and trust building, he will be your friend forever and will make an amazing familly member. To meet this handsome boy, stop by the Pet Smart in Clairemont and submit a cat adoption application @arwob.org
