Rescue Story:
Cappuccino aka cap was rescued from Ensenada, Mexico.
His family (a couple) put him on the streets because they had a baby and didn't want him anymore. He lived on the streets for a while and, during this time, he was attacked by another dog and lost his leg. The mother of the so called owner took him to the vet for treatment but never returned to claim him. Cap was in dire shape: infested with ticks and fleas, matted, underweight, intact and no leg. The injured leg was pretty much "healed" (not infected) by the time he made it to the vet.
He was on antibiotics to treat the infection. Cap did not have a surgery in Mexico when he first arrived at the vet clinic. ARWOB was not aware of Cap until January. At this point, it‘s for Cap's best interest we do not submit him to surgery to have his right leg completely amputated for pure aesthetic reasons. Adopters should be aware Cappuccino still has the right front leg up to the elbow; he does hop on 3 legs and has no problem moving around or going up stairs.
Temperament:
He was boarded at her clinic for a couple of months until a foster home was found and his infection treated.
He is very social with other dogs and people, loves car rides, is crate trained. He barks at cats but is not aggressive towards them.
Cap is currently with a foster in the Mira Mesa area and is fostered with 3 other dogs. He likely would be happy as an only dog as well.
