Meet Daphne!
This adorable, sweet, goofy and playful girl came to ARWOB in October 2017 and we would love to be able to find a forever family for her! Daphne came to us from the streets of Tijuana and has been fostered in San Diego since October.
Daphne has lived in a home with many dogs and cats. She is not left unsupervised with the kitties, but she is able to move around the home without bothering the kitties if someone is there to supervise her. She can be too strong for her own good with some kitties, so she would be better suited in a home without cats. Daphne does do well with both small and large breed dogs, but she plays a little rough with some small breed dogs. Consequently if she is introduced to a small breed, it would have to be like our girl Nena (a 10-pound Chihuahua) who can hold her own and find a quiet area when she has had enough play time. In other words, it would need to be a small breed that can handle Daphne’s enthusiasm for rough play.
Daphne would love to be a hiking, running, or trail dog. Typical of the retriever breed, she loves toys and plenty of exercise. She also loves her food and is a complete food hound, which means she is easily trainable! A potential adopter for Daphne would need to agree to enroll her in dog training to learn some manners, as she could benefit from learning to stay, down, as well as leash manners. She is house trained if she has access to the yard to go potty or her adopter can continue with crate training, since she is comfortable in her crate. She is not a barking kind of dog, except when her humans come home and she gets super excited. She doesn’t have separation anxiety when left at home, so she doesn’t bark when she is at home or in the yard alone. Daphne just loves to ride in the car and she adores men, women, and children.
Many people have said that Daphne looks to be part pit bull, but we have spent a lot of time with her in person and we do not believe she has any pit bull mixed in. She could very well have some pit bull, but her face and coat are not of the bully breed. Although we think it would be great if she was part pit bull, since that would mean she would make a great family dog just like all pitties! However, if anyone would like to do a DNA test for her, they are welcome to do so.
Daphne is really anxious to meet you and to prove to you what a great dog she is. We offer foster-to-adopt programs if you would like to get to know her. We really want to find this princess a forever home, so if you are interested please fill out an online application right away! Don’t wait!
