Meet Valley!
Sweet Valley approached a Border Patrol agent on the day before Thanksgiving and he got her in the truck as he knew an ARWOB volunteer had been called earlier in the day seeking help for another stray dog found by patrol. When an ARWOB volunteer arrived to pick up one pup, it turned out Valley was a surprise and also needed shelter. With the Thansgiving Holiday and the bad weather upon, us both dogs were scanned and no form of identification was found. Their pictures were sent to local shelters and no owner came forward, which ARWOB was not surprisedabout as these are typical strays running around in the rural San Diego area. Valley has been amazing from the beginning... a little shy and hesitant, but the most loveable and gentle 'big girl'. She has learned to go inside the car after a few coaching sessions. She has learned the crate is a nice little den and she has incorporated into the rest of the ARWOB rescues nicely. She is pretty gentle on the leash, but if she is stubborn on something, she has a good strength. She has not barked since we have had her and she seems to do well with the cats. She has been able to walk around them in the house without chase or interest, but should be surprised around cats.
No aggression or leash reactivity, she loves to lean on you for attention. She LOVES her food and although not food aggressive, she will will 'lift her lip' showing signs to other dogs/cats around her that the food is hers, but that is pretty common for new rescues and she will likely improve. She can take food from you gently and without a problem of other animals being given treats at the same time, she only does it if an animal is 'debating' getting into her food bowl.
She is an amazing pup and one lucky family will be able to give her a forever home!
