Clark was recently confirmed to have mild to severe hip displasia, but his doctor doesn't believe he will need any future surgeries related to his HP. Like so many HP diagnosed dogs, however, only time will tell if he will need further surgical correction.
As a result of some of his physical challenges, Clark will need a home that is NOT very active. His veterinarian recommended a home without young children that can accidentally place too much weight on his hips, or a home with an older or less active dog was recommended. Clark will not be the type of dog who should be taken hiking or to dog parks and doggy day care often. He will certainly need to go on great walks daily, but he should not participate in activities that will strain his hip (e.g. agility training). Clark LOVES water, however, so swiming and other low impact activities would be great. He CAN go to dog parks occasionally, but should not go to such an active place too frequently in order to avoid straining his hips.
Clark loves the water--pools, garden hose, or anything else water related! He is amazing with all people and dogs he meets, and is just a HANDSOME guy seeking the perfect family for him. As of November 2014, Clark is thriving--you would never know he has just 3 legs or that he has Hip Dysplasia! He is as happy and active as can be. He is currently fostered in a home with multiple dogs, so we are seeking a foster that has no other dogs or very low energy dogs so that he can have a normal, quiet life.
If you are not ready to adopt but believe Clark would be great for you as a foster, please, file an application TODAY!
