Meet Sweet Duke!
Duke is an adorable and handsome yellow lab who just turned 6 months.
He was rescued in the middle of Decemeber, 2013, when he was abandoned at a veterinary hospital and then taken in by an ARWOB rescuer/volunteer. He was fostered in the same home along with other dogs until February 9th, 2014, when he then moved to a different foster home and was ready to be adopted February 16th, 2014. BUT, unfortunately, poor sweet Duke had been incubating an illness and he sadly exhibited Distemper clinical signs 2 days after being adopted. Of course, the family who adopted him sought help and we were happy to take him back ASAP to make sure we could help him be with the people he loved in case he didn't make it. As you know, Distemper has a high mortality rate and although some distemper puppies do survive, it's rare that they do.
In this case its been almost 4 months and he is NOW READY FOR ADOPTION, WHOO HOO!
Duke did develop a slight "tic" and sometimes when he is asleep or at rest you will see his body twitching even when he at full sleep. He is not seizuring, but twitching.
Duke is UTD on all medical and has nothing else that needs to be done for him BUT we are seeking a family who will know and be OK with Duke not being your typical "normal" dog. He is a HANDSOME yellow lab AND like all labs he is active and energetic and just such a love bug and food HOUND! He will keep a family very happy and loved and all he will need is the same love in return.
We do request families interested in meeting with Duke do research about what Distemper is and to talk to their veterinarian and contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
We have some adorable videos of Duke being posted by his foster mom and we welcome you to meet this very happy active and did I mention HANDSOME lab pup?
Don't wait...Submit an adoption application today!
