Meet the adorable Piratas!
A lady rescued 4 pups from the road in Baja, Mexico back in mid October. She dropped them off at the vet and never came back. One of the pups was badly injured during a hit by car and the rest of the 3 pups were well with exception of dehydration and emmanciation. The pups stayed in a vet clinic in Baja for a month of quarantined and you could tell they were scared of people as everytime the staff would touch them they would pee and try to run away. Well, we are happy to report these kiddos are happy, healthy and have recovered and rehabilitated very well!
They are VERY people friendly and now Captain Hook and Mr. Smee are fostered together and Black Pirate is still in at the vet until a foster is found.
It seems the 3 are still cautious of things and will bark when uncertain like a big dog approaching them, but they really wag those tails and follow people around loving to be pet.
The pups are now 4 months and about 12 pounds. They look like large breed pups BUT they are already 4 mo so we know they will actually grow anywhere to 20 and possibly 40 pounds at the biggest but likely stay in the 30 pound range. So a good medium size.
Mr. Smee is adorable adn the one that looks more like a Doxi mix with shorter legs and a little tank for a body. Most outgoing of the 3.
Captian Hook is super cute and he looks more like a Jack russell/Shep mix just too cute for words. Hook took the "big brother" role very seriously and was very protective of the three siblings, he has now come around and not defensive or protective of them all as he knows he can trust people. Hook is also a little more reserve than his brothers, but NOT by much. He is very loving.
Black Pirate - he looks more like a shepherd mix and is also very sweet and still looking for a foster parent.
All pups are great in the crate and not vocal inside but will bark when they are afraid or as cautionary warnings otherwise they are great pups and also ride well in the car.
