Sam is an AMAZING dog in almost everyway but he does have a few quirks and needs an adopter who is an experienced dog owner with the breed OR an adopter who will keep sam out getting into trouble.

We are seeking for adopters who will foster Sam for 1-2 months before an adoption is finalized to make sure they get to know Sam and his "quirks" to make sure its a safe and good match.

Sam's current foster mom was his trainer and fell in love with Sam and agreed to foster him. She has had many dogs come in and out of her house and says he holds a special place in her heart. He is such a pleaser and wants an owner who will show him what to do. She has also said she would be willing to be part of his transition into his new home and will continue training with his new family until both he and his owner are comfortable together.

Sam is a sweet and loyal companion who needs someone who is used to a pup who likes to "push the limits". He, like any animal tries to test his boundaries to see what he is able to get away with and needs an owner who is experienced enough to show him what those boundaries are. Sam loves to learn and is not naturally an "alpha dog". He is very responsive to commands and has wonderful house manners. He will lay on his bed and allow company and friends to enter and exit without barking or running to the door. He knows the command "go to your bed" and will remain there while you are busy doing regular house hold activities.

Sam enjoys play time with other dogs but needs a handler who will remind him that he is not the alpha and no matter what size or sex the other dog is, he must play nicely. He loves family and friends but is wary of strangers until he sees his handler is happy with the new person. He is very loyal and wants to please you, if you are happy with a new guest, Sam will be happy with them as well . He is a big baby who loves to give kisses and will fall asleep with his head in your lap.

Sam loves the outdoors and is a dog who needs to be taken to new places to be mentally stimulated. He is a working dog but this does not mean he needs a large yard. He is much more content being in a house and taking a nice run at the end of the day than being locked outside. He is a people dog and wants to be with someone who enjoys hiking and spending time outside. He will need someone who is active and looking for a great running/walking partner. Keep in mind that his breed is a working class and mental stimulation is important. The more time you spend with him the better he behaves.

The best features about Sam is his sweet personality. He loves being pet, which is really hard to resist because of his super soft coat! He is a cuddle bug who likes to be right by your side.  He listens well and knows his basic commands (heel, sit, down, come, stay and go to your bed). Sam is  very smart and is also very trainable, especially when he's had a short walk. He must be in a household who is willing to keep the rules for Sam very black and white, he is so smart he will try and weasel his way out of doing what's expected if you do not keep the rules consistent. But in the words of the trainer, "Sam is not a hard dog to train."

Sam currently lives with his trainer in a household with one other "alpha male" dog and three adults. He ha never challenged the other dog and has taken role as the other dog's follower. He loves to play and may be to rough for small children. Because he is young and energetic, high pitch voices and small children running around may be too much of a distraction. He does not always know his size and my accidentally knock over the little ones. He is loyal and loves "his" people. If you live in an apartment or home with a small yard this does not mean he is not the right dog for you, just know he will be waiting at home for play time and does not know that after a long day of work you may not to go for a walk. Some one who enjoys hiking and outdoor activity would be perfect for this pup. He is crate trained and goes in on his own!
